Comments Thread For: Time For Manny Pacquiao To Stop Cheating History

The only way to legitimize this fight for a vacant WBC JMW title,
is to have it at 154 limit and only if Margarito gets his license to fight in Nevada or at least somewhere in the US.
Anything less would be a fraud of an 8th division title...
But don't get me wrong, 148+ Margarito will bring pain to Manny and will be very competitive. I'm merely pointing out the legacy aspect of it, or lack thereof by fighting in a catchweight.Comment

History Cheats Itself
The cheating history refers to the titles. If you are making claims of being a 7 div champ yet the last title you won was not at the max limit, that takes away from the title, no matter who you are. Add to it, the fighter Manny is most compared to, floyd mayweather jr, has won titles in the same weight classes but has not needed weight clauses to do so.
Catchweights were used in the past because there were fewer division and, as such, more weight between divisions. It went from 135-147-160, there was no 140 or 154. Hence if the ww champ was fighting the mw champ, a cathcweight was needed. They don't need them now with only 6 or 7 lbs seperating divisions.
Up until the 80's you had to weigh in the day of the fight and they had 15 round fights, so history is cheating itself like it always does? Baseball stats are forever jaded because of segregation and so forth. But, at the end of the day your point is vald. I just don't buy into that BS anyway 4, 5, 8, 10 division champ I don't buy and you shouldn't either. I mean each division has 4 major belts, its all BS! I just look at who is good and who knocks people the F-OUT!Comment

Correct me if I'm wrong and missing something. But who did Clottey beat for the WBO belt to become champ? From what I've seen he's lost every challenge for the WBO belt.Comment

If used as a measure of greatness it must be analyzed in the proper context. Manny has done some great things, but he'like all those before and after, are a product of the generation they fight in.Up until the 80's you had to weigh in the day of the fight and they had 15 round fights, so history is cheating itself like it always does? Baseball stats are forever jaded because of segregation and so forth. But, at the end of the day your point is vald. I just don't buy into that BS anyway 4, 5, 8, 10 division champ I don't buy and you shouldn't either. I mean each division has 4 major belts, its all BS! I just look at who is good and who knocks people the F-OUT!
Manny uses catchweights as a negotiating tool when he moves up. Just fight the champ at that weight and I'd have nothing to say!Comment

ok so u can weigh in from 147 to 154 right so whats the big ****ig deal let marg come in at 154...why is PAC trying to **** wit the 4 extra pounds u cant change boxing weight classes like that wtf is this?? pac can come in at around over 147 and let marg come in at the limit of 154 whats the big ****ing deal here?? PAC's has become a big drama queen lately..so let me get this if there is this ******ed catchweight in place then marg cant come in over 150 right but if he does he gets fined??? what!!!! what the hell is that bottom line u cant invent your own weight classes and where the hell is the boxing commission what r they high on A-side meth!! where the hell r they..this cant if it does then boxing is ****ed for good...Heavyweight Division - 200+lbs

Light Heavyweight Division – 168-175 lbs
Super Middleweight Division – 160-168 lbs
Middleweight Division – 154-160 lbs
Junior Middleweight Division – 147-154 lbs
Welterweight Division – 140-147 lbs
Junior Welterweight Division – 135-140 lbs
Lightweight Division – 130-135 lbs
Super Featherweight Division – 126-130 lbs
Featherweight Division – 122-126 lbs

Bantamweight Division – 115-118 lbs
Super Flyweight Division – 112-115 lbs

Junior Flyweight Division – 105-108 lbs
There is a thing called weight classes guys. Just because an agreement is made for a fighter to fight at a lighter weight than the actual limit of the weightclass, doesnt mean it shouldnt be a title fight as long as both fighters are fighting within the weightclass bracket.Comment
