Comments Thread For: Time For Manny Pacquiao To Stop Cheating History

The only way to legitimize this fight for a vacant WBC JMW title,
is to have it at 154 limit and only if Margarito gets his license to fight in Nevada or at least somewhere in the US.
Anything less would be a fraud of an 8th division title...
But don't get me wrong, 148+ Margarito will bring pain to Manny and will be very competitive. I'm merely pointing out the legacy aspect of it, or lack thereof by fighting in a catchweight.

History Cheats Itself

Catchweights were used in the past because there were fewer division and, as such, more weight between divisions. It went from 135-147-160, there was no 140 or 154. Hence if the ww champ was fighting the mw champ, a cathcweight was needed. They don't need them now with only 6 or 7 lbs seperating divisions.
Up until the 80's you had to weigh in the day of the fight and they had 15 round fights, so history is cheating itself like it always does? Baseball stats are forever jaded because of segregation and so forth. But, at the end of the day your point is vald. I just don't buy into that BS anyway 4, 5, 8, 10 division champ I don't buy and you shouldn't either. I mean each division has 4 major belts, its all BS! I just look at who is good and who knocks people the F-OUT!

Manny uses catchweights as a negotiating tool when he moves up. Just fight the champ at that weight and I'd have nothing to say!

There is a thing called weight classes guys. Just because an agreement is made for a fighter to fight at a lighter weight than the actual limit of the weightclass, doesnt mean it shouldnt be a title fight as long as both fighters are fighting within the weightclass bracket.
