There is a thing called weight classes guys. Just because an agreement is made for a fighter to fight at a lighter weight than the actual limit of the weightclass, doesnt mean it shouldnt be a title fight as long as both fighters are fighting within the weightclass bracket.

why are people so upset with a catch weight. margarito fought at 147 a couple years ago and pac has never fought at 154. i don't think their should be a title on the line, or that margs should make a single penny for this fight. plus if he is fighting at 154 i would much rather see him against martinez or williams, where the risk/reward is better, if manny wins, he will not and should not be praised for the win. i mean those 2 guys in the ring will no doubt be exciting, but marks got ko'd, caught cheating, and since then has done absolutely nothing to prove he is back in the ranks of the elite in boxing.

1.) Neither Pacquiao nor Margarito are genuine contenders at 154

2.) Margarito is not actually a genuine contender at any weight, he is currently banned, coming off a bad beating, and looks to be a joke judging by the Garcia fight

3.) Manny has no business at 154, he is just trying to scam another belt

4.) The fight will be held at a catch-weight. This belt will be the second consecutive divisional title that Manny has won when fighting at catch-weight. So, not only is the fight not against a legitimate contender, it is not even against a legitimate junior middleweight.

5.) Due to the catch-weight, it is highly unlikely that Manny will defend his title at 154, he certainly will not attempt to unify

What the article forgets to mention is that Margarito has fought most of his career as a welterweight and when he has fought at Jr. Middleweight, he has looked sluggish and not all that good. I think fighting at 150 is going to be better for Margarito, will force him to train a little harder and won't drain him one bit. Although I believe Pacman would win if the fight were anywhere between 147 and 154, I really believe 150 is the highest weight Pacman will ever fight for, probably coming in around 147-1/2 to 148 just to make the limit. This is not that big a deal for Margarito, and in any fight he always will have a puncher's chance...
