There is a thing called weight classes guys. Just because an agreement is made for a fighter to fight at a lighter weight than the actual limit of the weightclass, doesnt mean it shouldnt be a title fight as long as both fighters are fighting within the weightclass bracket.

I understand this but why do they have to get Margarito to fight at a predescribed weight within that weight class as opposed to allowing him to come in at the weight class limit like most fighters do? It would be different if Margarito wanted to come in at 150 to have an edge in speed or something but he is being told that he must come in no heavier than that.

Agree. Great article. IMO, only at 135 did he fought the weakest champion but it was understandable considering the rest have scheduled fights plus it was not CW. This time Marg is not deserving of a top ranking at 154. And the belt making machine ( WBC ) just make it a title fight. WTF.

Lolz. I like this fight personally. I don't believe 150 will matter to Marg performance but this should not have been a title fight.

He's to blamed. But Manny should be blamed more. He has leverage to get anything he wants against any opponents not named, Floyd Mayweather. Arum just ran along with anything Manny agrees with or suits him.

Leonard vs Lalonde was for 2 belts at once. super middleweight and Lt heavy. next fight he defended 168, next fight was for 154 belt. whoever wrote this needs to learn his boxing "history" and stop worshipping Mayweathers scared little nuts.

There is a slight difference here, Lalonde was the WBC light heavy weight champion. He agreed to meet Leonard at a catch weight for both his title and the vacant super middle weight title.Not to mention Lalonde and Leonard were compensating for a 15 pound weight difference. Leonard's previous fight was against Marvin Hagler at 160. So he leonard went up 8 pounds, and Lalonde came down 7 pounds. Leornard TOOK the title from the light heavy weight champion (Lalonde). I would say that is a different scenario, than taking on Margarito. Margarito is not the champion at JR middle weight, and many people don't feel like he has earned the title shot.

After Lalonde, Leornard fought to a disputed draw with Thomas Hearns in defense of that super middle weight title. His next fight was another title defense at 168 pounds against Roberto Duran. After those TWO defenses, he then fought Terry Norris for the (154) Jr. middle weight title. Maybe you should brush up on your boxing history.

I f@ckin hate Arum, he wants to milk Pacquiao before he retires and on top of that he wants the money all to himself thus putting pac against another top rank fighter.

I'm also disappointed with manny, he should have consulted first with the boxing community instead of just relying all his fights to what arum gives him.

Now boxing is taking a big hit, with Floyd chickening out and Manny fighting an undeserving opponent, it will only make people switch to MMA (and I'm not even a big fan of it), where this kind of bull**** rarely happens.

Ha, good point. I checked to see - no red, and in fact some Green K from my man IMDAZED.

I have, however, received a few e-death threats, though also thank yous from a few promoters and managers (none of them being Uncle Bob, of course)
