Why do they have to be great? Why can't they be the best fighter or one of the best available at the time?

You must have done a search of all the guys who were champions in the 130 to 140 pound division around the time Floyd was fighting in those divisions because you obviously have no clue who the great fighters were at that time.

Casamayor was considered the equivalent of David Diaz (the belt holder that Pac beat 135) in the 130 pound division when Floyd fought in that division. The difference was that Floyd fought the best fighters in the division (Diego Corrales) instead of the fourth best like Pac did in fighting Diaz. Who the **** is Artur Grigorian? That must be a joke. Spadafora was in prison when Mayweather moved up to 135 and beat Castillo twice. Mayweather called Kostya Tszyu out at the same time he call out Cotto at 140. Tszyu chose to fight Hatton (who also dodge Floyd at 140) instead. I won't waste my time talking about the others. They have been discussed enough.

But keep up the research. It actually makes you look less ******ed than the other *******s.

I'm still stunned that people mention Margarito's name.

Mike Cassell: Well, let’s talk about the other guys, Like Antonio Margarito.

Larry Merchant: Who Mayweather didn’t want any part of, by the way.

Mike Cassell: Well that’s why I don’t think there should be a question of Mayweather coming back. I think he has to come back. There is such a large part of the welterweight division that he seems to have just ignored. Guys like Paul Williams, Antonio Margarito , and...

Larry Merchant: And Shane Mosley. But that’s how boxing fans and boxing writers see it. Fighters today are not just fighters. They are entrepreneurs. They make decisions based on money. Mayweather didn’t want any part of Margarito because he saw him as a bigger version of Castillo, who he had trouble with at lightweight. A very strong and very determined willful type of fighter http://www.doghouseboxing.com/DHB/Cassell012409.htm

floyd fought 2 eliminators just to get a fight with gatti. yep gatti. don't believe that ***** garbage about him calling out tszyu or tszyu ducking him. if floyd wanted tszyu the fight would have been made. instead floyd waited for him to lose just like he did with cotto and is currently doing with pac.

Wrong, He was not in prison at the time do your research MY SON. In fact, even when Mayweather fought Sosa the guy was not yet in prison, go do your research. I have every Floyd fight, so i know what was going on. He went to jail a short time after Floyd fought Sosa.

To compare Diaz and Casamayor is a joke. That even makes you look more like a fool, Casamayor is a bordeline HOF.

The other stuff that is discussed? How even went and fought Arturo Gatti a guy he called a paper champion, how he kept saying how gatti has 6 losses.

Where was the contract offered to Tszyu? Floyd could have moved up earlier instead of fighting Sosa.

Also he got the same from Margarito that was given to Baldomir. The difference was tat Margs called him out face to face and mano to mano, bravo to bravo, any fighter who has a pair would call out that bluff or bravado.

Also he retired after the Hatton fight, when Cotto was undefeated. Cotto after beating Judah and Mosley was more confident and willing to fight Mayweather.

Also the Pac thing is obvious to anyone with common sense, Pac called out May's bluff. 14 day window and 50-50. Unless your a blind *****s filled with red k as yourself than you wont accept the truth.

All were good but not great. Manny Pacquiao would be a great fighter that I want to see Floyd against.

Edit: Just noticed Margarito and Grigorian.

Okay, Margarito is a cheating bum. He was never good. Gregorian who?

Cotto is good against B level fighter.

The boxing fans wanted to see Mayweather vs Gatti. A lot of people even said Gatti was too big and questioned if Mayweather can take Gatti's punches. These threads are long gone now but I do have them bookmarked for when I see posts like these trying to belittle Mayweather's win over Gatti.
