At this stage of his career Cotto needs the big names that he can build up his value for another Mega fight before he retires and this Vanes Martirosyan guy is not one of them. Hell this might not even be enough to get broadcasted thru HBO. Although I agree that Vanes is on the top 10 he brings nothing to Cotto's table. Even if Cotto wins cleary, knocking him down in every round and winning the fight in the 6th round by ko, it will bring no credit to Cotto. However if he looks mediocre, even in victory his value will continue to go downhill. I understand the Foreman Fight, especially after the lost to Pacman, but even that fight I think made HBO because it was at Yankee Stadium, if that fight would had been in some other place besides MSG and Yankee Stadium I really doubt that HBO would had been interested.
Cotto should demand fights with Berto, Angulo and Margarito and after he beats at least 2 of these 3 (which IMO he will) then he has build up his value to where it was before the Pacman fight and can look forward to a PBF or Pacman rematch. Cotto is still a draw (although not as much as before) and he need to maintain that, fighting guys like this Vanes wont help.

Cotto will make Vanes feel like he was back in the gym for the first time, when you keep getting your ass whooped on a daily basis before you get any good.

                Good Fight!

Finally a fight with no recycled fighters. Freddie Roach will be silenced. He is so amped over Pac Man he think's every fighter he trains is invincible. Remember he trained De la Hoya when he fought Money Mayweather.........and he lost! De la Hoya got tight just like Mosely. I guess TIGHT is the new word for "He was whooping my ASS!"

This fight has a hungry challenger that has never held a belt. It would be very interesting but Cotto is a veteran and would handle his business with this one.

                TKO by body shot.

this is what cotto needs a fight to fine tune with new trainer.
then maybe one more and he'll be ready to win a big name fight.
he still has some stuff to work on first though.and that wont happen against
                  superstars.

Cotto vs Martirosyan - This Top Rank vs Top Rank BS is getting ridiculous.

This would be Martirosyan's first world title shot and Miguel Cotto's first title defense at 154 pounds. [Click Here To Read More]
                      great tune up for cotto.

cotto needs a few more tune ups with steward to work out the kinks in his defense and conditioning.
