Martirosyan is a top ten fighter at JMW so is a worthy challenger so its hardly like hes a handpicked bum.
    I agree with this post.

Cotto has been fighting nothing but Killers. He deserves some easier nights to build up a head of steam before going into another megafight.

Cotto doesn't have to man up for the time being. He needs to sharpen up.

So first Cotto fights Yuri Foreman basically b/c that was the only option really given to him by Bob Arum, and Cotto was coming off the Pacman loss. It turned out that the reason this fight was the only option given to Cotto was b/c Arum wanted to use Cotto to get Foreman over as a star, hoping Foreman would win. It was pretty obvious in the lead up to the fight, and Arum's attitude afterward made it pretty clear what his intentions were matching Foreman and Cotto up, and it was basically to use Cotto as a stepping stone for Foreman.

Now another in-house undefeated Top Rank fighter is reportedly in the mix for a fight with Cotto. Not b/c Cotto is interested in the fight, mind you, but according to the article the fight is a possibility because Freddie Roach is pushing to get the fight made and b/c apparently Top Rank ie Bob Arum is interested in making the fight. So lemme get this straight...Miguel Cotto, arguably the 3rd biggest draw in boxing and one of the top dogs, is supposed to fight Vanes b/c Freddie Roach and Bob Arum want him to and there is a "push" being made for it by them? Miguel Cotto should not be dictated to who he is going to fight next by Bob Arum, and certainly not Freddie roach. He is a bigger star than that, and it wouldnt surprise me if all these rumors floating around about Cotto being unhappy with Arum and wanting out end up being true. Arum does not seem interested in getting Cotto the biggest fights possible anymore and seems like he does not really care anymore for Cotto's input or opinion regarding who he fights in the future and wants to treat him like some low level bum that has no say in who he fights. I never once actually saw Cotto saying anything about wanting to fight Yuri Foreman, it just sort of "happened". It was the only option put on the table by Arum. What happens if Arum tries the same **** this time after Cotto has made it clear he only wants "big name" fighters, and Arum gives him the not so stellar option again? At some point I would love to hear Cotto speak up and take some more control over the direction of his career b/c he has deferred to Bob Arum for far too long, IMO, and while Arum seemed to do right by him for a while it doesnt look like Arum gives a **** about Cotto anymore. Time for Cotto to just say who it is he wants to fight and tell Arum to stick it if he wants him to fight every up and comer in Top Ranks stable until he eventually loses to one of them.

This **** is annoying now. We could have Cotto/Berto, Martinez, Williams, Bradley.

Cotto will do to Vanes what Pac did to him. I don't want to see this it's a really uninspiring fight. Vanes is boring and doesn't get KO's. I'm sure this is the ****ty fight we will get. And they had the nerve to mention Berto. Thought they were going 2 do something but theyre just fighting this Vanes bum.

Roach wants Vanes out of his stable ASAP. He knows this and wants to cash out in the process.
