He already revealed the contract. His promoter is trying to condemn the Klits as the reason for not making the fight, so im sure hes gonna reveal the "bad" terms.Comment

With the money Povetkin was supposed to get paid for this
fight, K2 should not have to pay any of his expenses. His
promoters called K2's bluff saying they were going to put
the fight in Russia, etc.. They lost the bid and now are
trying to save face with a yellow coward fighter and a
trainer (ATLAS) that does not want another embarrassment
like other fighters he was supposed to do such a great job with
that got destroyed under his tutelage.. Accommodations, gloves,
insurance, excuses, excuses.. bring on Klitschko-Peter 2!!!!!!!!Comment

Might not be fair, but when you're just a contender fighting a world champion who's a star, you're gonna have to play by his rules. I'm surprised Povetkin is backing out. If you win, it's all worth it. Dude just wasn't confident enough to take the fight.Comment

Actually, every sanctioning body with the exception of the IBF have form contracts for mandatory fights that come out of a purse bid.
The problem with the IBF's rules, is that it allows the champion to put any type of terms that he desires in a contract and the mandatory challenger is FORCED to sign the contract or lose his mandatory shot. That's the reason why there were problems here and why the IBF needs form contracts.Comment

Hah. Barrett only whined a little bit about the treatment he apparently received from Haye's camp, but he still went ahead and fought like a man. Povetkin was challenging for the world heavyweight titles, yet he couldn't endure a few hardships along the way?
Ay-yai-yai.
These Russians are increasingly turning into ******* (Valuev, Povetkin...)Comment

Didnt atlas say himself that the reason the fight is not going ahead is because his guy is not ready? Is 2 mil dollars or maybe more really that bad for this guy who has basically done nothing so far? As people have said if you win the purse bid you follow the rules of the sanctioning body and it looks like klits company have done just that, so why not just blame the sanctioning body? If your not happy with a contract then negeotiate and see what happens, povetkin didnt show up and then pulled out citing needs more experience, i dont have much sympathy for this type of stuff. As for the gloves, come out and say you want to wear different gloves and see what happensComment

Falls, the promoter which wins the bid!!!The problem with the IBF's rules, is that it allows the champion to put any type of terms that he desires in a contract and the mandatory challenger is FORCED to sign the contract or lose his mandatory shot. This could have been Sauerland, if they overbid K2 and than they could dictate it.
The winner of the Purse Bid dictate the terms. In this case it is K2, the promotion of the Champ.Comment
