  • Tribute to Hawk - The man who would have defeated Floyd Mayweather Jr.(51 mb video)

I had some extra time yesterday so I decided to make this film about my favorite 'little guy', Aaron 'Hawk' Pryor. In recent years we have been subjected to a large amount of fighters that just up and quit the fight, including the great Mike Tyson. One of the reasons I admire Aaron is he would never dream of quitting, he didn't care whether or not he lived or died in the ring. You'll never see Pryor get knocked down and spit out his mouthpiece to buy himself time to recooperate like cheapo corrales did. My second favorite little guy is Chavez of course, but in my opinion nobody had the same ferocity and warrior mentality as Pryor. He has to be the #1 mentally adept fighter of all time, next to Marvin Hagler.Every time Hawk entered that square circle it was life or death to him, he'd rather die in there than quit.

We need more fighters like Aaron. The average guy takes a look at Boxing and thinks it's just a show, what it really is is much more than just a show; Sigfried and Roy, and the dancing girls, and David Copperfield, those are shows, Boxing is not a show. It's where each man risks his well being every second of every round to prove himself to the gods of boxing, striving to each write their own page in the book of the sweet science.

Tribute to The Hawk (39(35 ko's)-1-0 [52 mb]

PS- I honestly believe Pryor would beat Floyd Mayweather Jr, without Panama Louis

edit- there's the link, sorry about that.(posted the thread without movie link.)

Very few fighters have become as overrated as Aron Pryor. The myth of him has outgrown his actual acomplishments inside the ring.

His story is full of so many holes and condtradictions its not even funny. They say in that clip he's one of the greatest amatures of all time...Yet he didn't even make the Olympic team. They say he beat the **** out of Tommy Hearns, but what they forget to mention was Tommy Hearns was 17 years old in that fight(The fight was very competative by the way nowhere near as one sided as people make it out to be)

They say he couldn't get a big fight at 135 so to get that fight he moved up in weight to 140.

He tries to claim he was ducked by Ray Leonard. Your telling me Ray fought Wilfredo Benitez, Tommy Hearns, Roberto Duran and Marvin Hagler, but yet was afraid of Pryor?? come on now.

Would someone also like to tell me why Pryor didn't move up to 147 to make those fights happen? I mean he had no problem moving up to 140 for a fight did he?

His biggest win came over an old Alexis Arguello and even then he struggled in the first fight. Arguello's best weight was 126, but by the time he fought Pryor he wast at 140 and had already had 20+ world tittle fights.

Outside of beating up an old Arguello whats his biggest acomplishment? Beating up Tommy Hearns when he was a kid? Those are the two things he's known best for.

Floyd would box circles arounde Pryor

Well, since I was probably misunderstood with my previous post I'd like to say this........

99% OF THOSE BOXERS WHO SAY THEY'LL DIE IN THE RING OR ARE WILLING TO DIE IN THE RING ARE FULL OF ****, NONE OF THOSE BOXERS WHO FIGHT ON A HIGH LEVEL WANTS TO DIE! I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH GIVING YOUR ALL, BUT AT THE SAME TIME, DON'T KILL YOURSELF. AND JUST TO CLEAR SOME THINGS UP, I GIVE 100% IN EVERYTHING I DO, IF I LIKE DOING IT.

I don't support quitters, but the whole dying in the ring and stuff like that is overrated.

I loved Pryor when he was active..
But, damn, he has indeed become overrated over time.
Jose says a lot of what I feel too, about Pryor ....

ill give him credit for hearns benitez and duran..but hagler? hagler challenged him and he punked out like a *****, then he waited until hagler was so far out of his prime he couldve been a grandfather. and even then he pulled a DLH vs tito and danced around him forever, only flurrying at the ends of rounds to win on the cards. ray ducked prime hagler JUST LIKE HE DUCKED PRYOR. i think the only reason ray won the fight vs hagler is because he was more of a media darling. and even then, i had hagler winning that fight, although i value aggressiveness more than most other things.

the way you said it makes it sound like he beat a prime hagler.

overrated? HA! if anything pryor is UNDERRATED!

you can see the fear in ray leonards voice and eyes, at that press conference. i rest my case.
