Welliver's nick is..... " The fat dorky white guy "
The guy is a class act.
He came over from the states a few years ago to fight in a charity match.
I cant remember his record and I've only seen him fight a couple of times..... but he is light on his feet for a big guy, and he can take a big punch..... and he is well-skilled, having worked with a lot of top fighters.
He will give Tua plenty of problems.Comment

Tua was always ****. His performance against Lewis remains in my memory. Big lump with a big left hook, no other discernable skills.Comment

Very hostile. Everyone thought Monte won. It took them a very long time to get the scores to the crowd, which is always a sign that something sneaky is taking place. There is NO WAY Barrett merely drew with Tua. Barrett won the fight, period.
All that said, it was a very good heavyweight fight in a division that could use some of those. The entire crowd was on its feet screaming when Barrett knocked Tua down. It was exciting as hell.Last edited by ChopperRead; 07-19-2010, 12:33 PM.Comment

cool...thanks for that insight.i only saw the solis fight & will pay attention to him.he has lost 40 pounds & took some big solis punches.i always enjoy hearing about charity work too.sounds like a classy guy.ive always liked underdogs like barrett, gavern, firtha, tye fields, zuri lawrence, obed sullivan, ahunanya, bostice, etc. its these guys who get the big names prepared for title runs.Welliver's nick is..... that is so cool...ive always liked & defended barrett while many laughed at me for saying barrett would go the distance.i knew he was prepared not like his previous 3 fights.im happy that you enjoyed yourself & the trip was worth the time.id have loved to have been there.what i do wonder is if barrett never said anything about retirement if he would have got the decision.if tua loses & barrett retires you now have 2 former challengers eliminated from the picture.tua can still be interesting if he gets in better shape.he was 237 but still looked soft.hes still marketable though.after barretts performance id like him to fight again...with a full training camp of course....the place must have erupted when he dropped tua....the best part i thought was the classy interview with barrett.Very hostile. Tua's never been great. I dont know where this legend came from. And as for him facing everyone...he hasnt faced a contender in half a decade. I mean he could have tried to fight Arreola, Peter, Adamek, Haye, Klitschko's, the Sultan, Chagaev, Chambers, Valuev, Dimi, Austin...anyone? Instead he was again in the ring with a bum, an old bum, an old bum fighting his last match...who conceded before the fight that he was done. Tua gets by on his name which should mean nothing, but somehow it still goes on. So many hypejobs come and go in boxing, but Tua stays around...makes no sense.Comment
