Fernando Montiel vs Jhonny Gonzalez. WBO Bantamweight title.
Jhonny came in 117.5lbs, Montiel came in 117lbs.
    Montiel loss a Split Decision. 115-113 | 111-118 | 112-116

    Nice Try.
i assumed you were referring to his recent title run rather than going back several years to his last official loss. anyway, other than his misstep against valdez, he's been on a tear lately and i dont see him slowing down.

people who dismiss montiel's win over hasegawa as a mere fluke arent giving him the credit he deserves. since when do the first three rounds of a fight guarantee any particular outcome

If Hasegawa does trade, he'll do it quick and go back to the game plan. Much like Tim Bradley does so. A lot of people think that just because a guy has power he automatically wins the trades.

Would you trade with Montiel if you were a boxer? And how many people can legitimately trade with him in the first place?

        43. 33 by KO. Really..

It's all about fighting your fight, not your opponent's fight.
If they fight again and the fight takes place anywhere but in Japan, Haseg looses....and Montiel will call the shots next. If they fight it will prob happen in Mex or in Vegas.

        Outcome......Haseg looses again to Montiel!!!!!!!!!

        I like Haseg bythe way!

He could win comfortably like that. Specially if he fixes that right hand guard.
I'd say he it's more than just that. He does it witrh most of his puynches.

Not necessarily. While no punch in boxing is lucky, there are those punches that land in one particular spot that are once in a lifetime punches are won't be repeated. Breaking Haegawa's jaw was one of those shots which I highly doubt would be repeated. Hasegawa takes it to the later rounds and Montiel would also have been hit more, tired, less power etc etc.

So, by the later rounds he could probably takes his shots. Nonetheless, we will never actually know who does win until a rematch happens, hopefully soon.
