that's a bit of an overstatement. i had hasegawa winning before the stoppage, but it was evenly fought up to the end.

i'm a big fan of both guys, but i think montiel comes out on top again in the rematch.

All Hozumi has to do is fix that right hand guard and go in with the intention of out-boxing him instead of trading shots.

He could win comfortably like that. Specially if he fixes that right hand guard.

You make it sound so easy.

I think Hasegawa takes the rematch. Hozumi is technical enough to brush up on his mistakes and avoid Montiels left-hooks.

Montiel lost at 117 and 115, didn't he?

That's why I said "if" not Hozumi will fix his right hand guard.

Fernando Montiel vs Jhonny Gonzalez. WBO Bantamweight title.
Jhonny came in 117.5lbs, Montiel came in 117lbs.
              Montiel loss a Split Decision. 115-113 | 111-118 | 112-116

              Nice Try.

I hope donaire doesn't move up in weightto 122 after the montiel fight. I think abner mares poses a serious threat and has a good chance of beating donaire. 118 is deep.

Well, funny but it should have been easy. Hasegawa fought a bizarre fight. usually he's very slow to start, outboxes his man, sees what the other guy has and starts to work and then only really goes for the KO later if he has his man hurt. He had been knocking out a lot of guys lately though, and so for some reason went barreling in all guns blazing!

He was vastly off his usual game plan and he paid big for it. Nonetheless, he was easily winning and had even hurt Montiel. Rematch: Hasegawa fights his normal fight, not trading but staying on top while countering and outboxing him using speed and combination punching. He wins.

Conclusion, If Haseg trades with Montiel he looses!

                      lol, so?

Would you trade with Montiel if you were a boxer? And how many people can legitimately trade with him in the first place?

                      43. 33 by KO. Really..

It's all about fighting your fight, not your opponent's fight.
