Since I haven't seen enough of Duran, I'll jump out of this argument, But OldGringo, what fights do you take as evidence that Duran could deal with Mayweather? Meaning, who did Duran fight/beat who was anything close to Mayweather (doesn't have to necessarily be on Mayweather's level of talent) in terms of style?

I don't have to name a legendary lightweight that Duran beat, because that's really not criteria to be considered. A nice bonus maybe, a must no.

          Duran beat:

Kobayashi (former 130 champ, great Japanese fighter)

Buchanan (great lightweight and 135 champ at the time. Beat Laguna x2 and Ortiz who are both all-time great lightweights)

DeJesus (great lightweight and former 135 world champ. DeJesus holds wins over Saldivar, Lampkin, Duran, and took Cervantes to the limit)

Ishimatsu (former Japanese 135 WBC titlist whos been in with Buchanan, Laguna, Gonzalez)

Lampkin (top ranked 135 contender, tough battles with DeJesus)

          Thompson (tough aussie titlist)

Among those wins were a bunch of other game contenders like Viruet and Mamby. He made 11 consecutive defenses of the WBA title and had a lightweight career record of something to the tune of 33-1.

Honestly, if Duran was so overrated, I'd like to see who you consider to be the greatest lightweight ever. I didn't use that list as a means to form my opinion, it's just to show your dumb ass that the majority of boxing fans know that Duran is all things considered the best or second best lightweight ever.
Wow you just named me some legendary fighters. You just proved my point. Esteban De Jesus was the only good fighter he has fought in the lightweights, guess what Duran lost the first match & Duran was knocked down in the 2n round. Your boy is overrated. Admit it! Now go lick his ass.

Wow you just proved to me that you might be the biggest ****** in the world. Age 28 or 29 is considered your prime idiot. Any boxing fan will tell you this. Yes Duran was having problem with bunch bums, the only good fighter he fought in the lightweight division was Esteban De Jesus & Duran lost the first fight. I bid even Duran will admit, that he would've not beat Mayweather. Some of you Duran asslicker either are crackheads or don't want to admit the truth.

Would you consider Fernando Vargas to be in his prime right now? He's 28 or 29...so what say you about that?

If a young Duran fought a young Mayweather Duran the human buzzsaw would have beat mayweather. He had every tool in the book to beat everyone out there. Duran P4P may actually be the greatest fighter of all time. Many of you have probably never seen when he buzzsawed through ken buchanan or many of his fights when he was a young man. Regardless of age though anyone who plans on beating mayweather has to keep their hands moving you cannot sit there and box with mayweather and let him take pictures in the ring ala roy jones. Duran at least kept his hands flowing and even ricky hatton has given him props. Duran would have beaten mayweather.

Although he had troubles with tall boxers and mayweather not being tall at least he would have been able to get in on him. When Duran fought Thomas Hearns he couldnt even reach him. But when he fought Marvin hagler at the next weight up he gave him a damn good run for his money (Hagler was closer to his height) many argue that duran won.

I actually just named you two all-time great lightweight fighters and a bunch of other really good fighters/champions at lightweight. You obviously have no clue who any of them are though so I guess its falling on deaf ears.

DeJesus could be seen as a legendary fighter depending on who you talk to, and I've personally seen him on top 100 p4p lists on more than one occasion.

Heres a good read on DeJesus:

                    DeJesus - A Tragic Story

Duran beat him twice (which you seem to want to overlook) and another all-time great lightweight champ in Ken Buchanan.

Again, your argument sucks and all you can say is "go lick his ass"...honestly you should become a pantomime so nobody has to hear your foolish grumbling anymore.

hahah lol Also dont forget that mayweather hits like a girl. Duran had a chin of granite and when he found that mayweather couldnt hurt him what would stop him from buzzsawing through him like he did so many others? To even get durans attention you had to hit him with bricks while at the same time being able to take a heck of a shot yourself. Duran would disspatch Mawyweather. Duran was also fast, tough, kept his hands moving and could fight in general.
