How's about Antonio Margarito? Shane Mosley? But I don't think Sharmba Mitchell is a bad opponent. He's world class, still got skills, and lets face it Judah was knocked out one round sooner by the great Kostya Tszyu. Its an interesting fight to keep Judah going until something bigger (Mayweather or Oscar?) comes along.

Agreed. Margarito or Mosely would be a better fight than Mitchell. Anyone know why Judah isnt fighting Margarito? You'd think that they would be on a collision course.

Surely Judah fighting Shamba Mitchell should put Judah more in the "NOT HOT" catagory, because Shamba is shot to pieces.

To be fair, Shamba Mitchell has looked like a fighter on the slide ever since his gift decsion against Lovermore Ndou. I think anyone with an eye for boxing would have noticed this... That's the reason I kept harping on about the Tszyu vs Mitchell II fight flattering Tszyu before Hatton fought Tszyu. (And I'm a Hatton fan).

Judah said that he'll fight ANYONE! when he became the Welterweight champ, yet so far he's fought that Cosme Riviera and now 37yr old Shamba "shot to pieces" Mitchell... Personally I think this qualifies Judah into the "NOT HOT" catogory.

Sooner or later, Judah's gonna have to fight a LIVE opponent. I think it'll be a big name in the light-welterweight division moving up, like Hatton/Cotto/Floyd...
Whatever, don't blame Judah. He's the one with the titles. He also fought Cory Spinks in a rematch for peanuts. He's not scared to fight anybody. How long did he call out Tszyu for a rematch? He never shut up about it. And there was always a big desire for a Judah vs. Mitchell match.

And did you really think Judah was going to get a better opponent for September 3? I think this is a damn good opponent on such short notice. Judah wanted Mosley, DLH, or Margarito. It isn't his fault that these guys wouldn't fight him yet. And hey, if anybody is worried about Judah ducking, which is silly, all they have to do is say they want Judah (which none of them have done) and one of the sanctioning bodies will rank one of these guys as a mandatory.

Seriously, you think Judah LIKES fighting ****ty mandatories?

Rivera was the WBC #1 contender. Now Mosley is. Mosley is #3 in the IBF, with #1 and #2 not rated. If Mosley really wants a shot, all he has to do is sign a contract. Or, if he doesn't want that, he can fight some bum to get the IBF #1, then Judah would have to defend.

And it has been looking like they're wanting to make Mosley vs. Margarito anyhow. So who else is there currently at 147?

Mitchell is the next best opponent. Please, name some better. Only one arguable is Luis Collazo or whatever, who is fighting already next month.

Zab is definitely going backwards, a W vs. Mitchell does nothing to his rep or cred, he'd be better off fighting another mandatory while waiting for the big fish, becuase after Mitchell another mandatory will be due and we'll have to wait another 6-8 months for Zab to fight a quality opponent, so it looks like we won't see Zab in a real "fight" for about a year

sharmba is a half step up from zabs manditories. he's not going to fight anyone dangerous for as long as he can. get use to it.

can't blame him. why risk belts against a margarito or mosley when you can make money fighting paperbelt manditories.

zabs been jabbering about being ppv material but hopefully they dont make his sharmba and manditories ppv. and if they do don't buy them.maybe that will make zab fight someone that counts.

maybe every fight is going to be a ppv in future. look what they're doing with barrera. a fana being a ppv. a barrera/pedan ppv. man thats ****.

Actually he isn't. Sharamba is rated #11 contender I belive by the WBC. He is not even a top 10 guy at 147.

Anyone else find it amusing reading a post from a British boxing fan about a fighter not facing live competition?

At the rate Judah is fighting, this is a fine fight for him to be taking. This will be his 3rd fight in 2005, and he will surely be fighting again in the late fall.

At Welter, there are really only two Marquee fights.

                      1. Shane Mosley, who had this to say about fighting Judah:

"I want to fight the best guys out there. It doesn't really matter which order I get them in, one at a time I'm going to get them all anyway. Zab's been talking some stuff, Tszyu is out there. I just want the biggest fights out there that the fans want.
I'd like to get another fight in before we go for something big. Estrada was my first fight back at 47 in a while, so one more fight and then I'm going to be looking for all of the top guys in the division." (May 26, 2005)

"The fight will happen probably some time next year, he's been talking a lot of junk and I'm going to shut him up... After my next fight or two, I'm coming for everybody."

The other fighter is Margarito, who Oscar Delahoya, Shane Mosley, Vernon Forrest, Ricardo Mayorga and Corey Spinks didn't fight either.

Margarito is an Arum fighter, and I haven't heard him talk much about fighting Judah.

I think because Mosley isn't ready yet, Zab vs Margarito is the next big fight at Welter, but there's nothing wrong with it happening later in the year. It also takes two of them to make a fight.

IMO Judah fighting Mitchell for his 3rd fight this year is very solid and admirable.
