TBH he was just looking for more money which Arum gave him. Eitherway it played no outcome in the fight and it won't in the rematch which is why I'm curious as to why Pacquiao wants a catchweight. He doesn't need it. Cotto can come in at 154 and I still think he loses.
so what if he got stripped, at least he would've stood on his principle. but cotto sold himself out. no one to blame but himself.

so what? that's cotto's burden to bare. at least he would've done the right thing and not sold him soul.

everyone has a price, and we now know what cotto's was.
exactly, cotto has no one but himself to blame.

So doug who knows a lot of the inside dealings in boxing would pretend not to know that the WBO threaten to strip Cotto of his belt if he didnt accept the offer of 145?

Cotto didnt have to take the fight with Pac. The WBO only said he had to put up his title, they didnt say he had to fight at 145 pounds.

Well then it's not exactly "**** you, it's my belt, my rules"... Clearly it isn't.

Either way, what blame? There's no blame here. Two guys came to a mutual agreement. There's no blame anywhere. Not sure what you, Doug Fischer, Pacquiao critics, or Cotto critics are getting at. The agreement was eventually mutual. Also please spare me with the "sold out" like you or anyone else on this board would have turned down a Pacquiao fight.

Please get off your high horses with this "principle" bs. Cotto and Pacquiao came to a mutual agreement.

That's like saying your boy Mosley "sold out" when he gave into OST.

He shouldn't have agreed, but Pacquiao never should have asked for it.

Actually they did. The pres of the WBO said that 145 was within the welterweight limit and if Cotto didn't want to fight Pac there he'd be stripped.

of course there's no one to blame, but if anyone was to blame it's cotto himself. ricans (some not all) and *****s are idiots and just want to make pac look bad
