That blood stuff is just an excuse to not take the tests.
He is mentally strong though. Anyone who fights with that style has to be mentally strong because that is a high risk, high reward style. Sooooo many fundamental flaws are in that style, you have to be mentally tough to cope with the damage you can take using that style to fight.Comment

come on man ,
someone could say floyd comes into fights with xylocaine injected in his hands so that means he needs that extra reassurance in the ring so he's mentally weak
that statement would be just as foolish
NO ONE gets to the level that floyd and manny without being mentally strongComment

Actually just Detroit and Flint are awful
But other than that Michigan has some of the best cities in the USA to live in.Comment

I wouldn't say Pac is mentally weak....compared to most people,he has been through a lot.
Is he mentally stronger than Floyd-I don't think so.I really do think Floyd is going to go overboard and have a field day with him-imagine the pre-fight hype and the 24/7...
I think Pac will get very uncomfortable with Floyd's head games.Comment

I had to laugh at that remark! Top Rank has guarded and paved his career (as well as sculpting his public image) that made him as popular as he is today.the man started boxing professionally at 16 years of age at 106lbs although he would come in plenty of times under 100lbs all while living in abject poverty in a third world country. He left his home at 12 to live on the streets of the biggest city in the philippines.
No amateur background. unlike floyd.
No olympic pedigree. unlike floyd.
No uncles (two of them) & a father as professional boxers. unlike floyd.
No top rank's careful management to start his career. unlike floyd.
No living in the suburbs in the most powerful country in the world. unlike floyd.
Yet he became what he is today.
You think floyd would be floyd if he grew up under pac's dire circumstances?
You get your answer you ****ing *****?
Floyd left Top Rank and became more popular...Last edited by damned1974; 07-04-2010, 12:36 AM.Comment

Yes. He won that last round in my books as well. He cried IMO because he felt he let everybody down. But you could see he knew he was down in the cards and his only chance was a KO. He went for it like a mad man. Hence, even though he lost, he was still treated a parade like a king when he went back to the Philippines.no pacquiao took the last round pretty decisively as i recall...crying has nothing to do with mental fortitude, mayweather has won and cried. pac is mentally very strong, im guessing most of you just jumped on the pac bandwagon with his win over hatton. just look at his run since his loss to erik, its clear hes very strong..in a lot of ways. and im not the biggest pac fan, but lets not be biased here. the kid has mental fortitude...thats one thing pac has, the way he trains, his ambition come on.Comment

You must not understand that it is probably easier to be a star coming from the Philippines when someone like Manny can stand out against the obscure talent pool.the man started boxing professionally at 16 years of age at 106lbs although he would come in plenty of times under 100lbs all while living in abject poverty in a third world country. He left his home at 12 to live on the streets of the biggest city in the philippines.

In America, there is far more athletes and talent to compete with to get the attention. How the hell does it matter if you live in the States or not when the odds do not favour you becoming as big of a success as Floyd is?
In America there are many athletes and not many are idolized as other countries stars....I am not sure why you think just because someone lives in the States that it must be easy when most people IN America tend to idolize stars from other countries....
Americans usually are suckers for the underdog working hard and paving a successful career-the typical rags to riches scenario is idolized and the more dynamics envolved, the better.....especially if they come from a third world country...Last edited by damned1974; 07-04-2010, 12:57 AM.Comment
