Andre Berto: Unifying with Zaveck sounds like a good plan.

not sure how unifying belts can ever be a bad thing, despite how unknown a guy is or not, he is a belt holder.

I would prefer Berto to unify rather than fight some 140-pounder moving up again.

Honestly, what makes him not ready for Berto? Berto's best wins are a blown up, old Forbes, an average but not quite elite gatekeeper in Collazo and Quintana (who came down in weight) and a blown up Urango. That's not an elite WW resume at all. And its not like he's looked amazing in his only two decent challenges (Collazo and Quintana). Both exposed him a lot. He still has a lot to learn in my opinion.

I wasn't trying to say Berto was an "Elite Welterweight" because he is not an Elite Welterweight just yet but the difference between Berto and Mike Jones is that Berto has been been tested by some pretty decent veteran fighters LIKE Collazo, Quintana and even Urango, not saying those are great fighters but his Resume looks better then Jones right now

Mike Jones like I said his toughest opponent to date is Bruseles, I would like to see Jones against Collazo or Quintana just to see how he would do, maybe even again someone like Cintron, even Mike Jones vs Luis Abregu would be exciting, two big punchers going at it would be fun to watch

again I like Jones, with that great size and POWER, he probably could KO Berto if given the chance but I do think they need to put him up against some better competition first before putting him in their with Berto

if u guys think that the stars like pacquiao cotto mayweather and mosley would give away 12% of their money to these sanctioning bodies u guys are wrong they could care less if berto has 3 paper titles.

Like 7 people on this site even know who Mike Jones is.

Unifying the belts could back Berto into a Pac fight or even a Mayweather fight( someway).

          Zaveck
          Sanchenko

All thats left is Pac. Or Mayweather if he wants to be Lineal Champ.

And you guys have made some good points about Pacquiao, but then comes Bob Arum. Why throw Pac in there with some fighter he'll KO in the first half and spend money when he can keep it in the house against fighters like Cotto and Margo and get more money? They are also bigger names than Berto. And Pacquiao would probably rather gain an 8th title or fight JMM than unify the WW titles.

As for Mayweather, like I said, he could care less about belts and wouldn't even fight for them, so it would be as if none are on the line. And Berto brings no money to the table, three belts or not.

As for P.Will, he has bigger fish to fry like Dzinziruk, Martinez, etc. and Haymon would have something to say about that fight. Same goes for Cotto. He could do rematches with Mosley, Pac or Margarito, which are much bigger fights than Berto, three titles or not.
          and Zaveck is Jennings>?

Still this may not be as much of a pushover as you may think, Zaveck won his title the way a champion should by ko from a defending champion and Berto though a phenomenal athlete is only slightly more proven than him with the Quintana win being the bench mark for me.
qft Zaveck won't be a pushover

            Why?

Because Zaveck has some bull**** title?

Berto's gonna go from Collazo and Quintana to Zaveck? The IBF is just gonna make Hlatswayo or some other African a mandatory to force another splintering, just like they did when Clottey was gonna unify with Cotto (deadline my ****).

Zaveck, Senchenko, and Aydin should fight each other until someone steps to the forefront. Aydin had to rob Jo Jo Dan to get his title, alphabets are meaningless.

Oh and Mike Jones has never proven himself against a quality opponent. Antoine Smith should be ahead of him anyway and they should've fought each other before getting a shot at Berto.

Berto should fight Bradley, Williams, or humble himself down to taking less than 50-50 against Mosley (Who told this guy he deserves 50-50 against Mosley?).

I agree with the other guys who say belts are meaningless. There are too many crap titles being handed out. That's the reason why any bum can win titles in multiple divisions these days easily. Just cherry pick every weak paper champion as you move up, and never defend your belt(hint, hint). The alphabet belts are a cancer to the sport.

Saying Berto is a real fighter is like saying Pluto is a livable planet.

Berto is not much more proven than Zaveck really and to be honest seems even in winning to find a way to look unimpressive.
