Andre Berto: Unifying with Zaveck sounds like a good plan.

It's pretty pathetic when today's version of Mosley is considered a step up opponent with as many times HBO has ****** off Berto giving him TV dates and what not. I don't think Berto could've beat the Mosley that fought Floyd and I think Mora stands a better chance against Mosley based on styles.

I'm not even gonna check. I'll just assume it was vacant and I made a ****** mistake. But there are plenty of bad champions. For an example, N'Dou at this point in his career is all chin and no skill yet he somehow holds the IBO belt. And if Berto went after him, I'd lose all respect for him. And the guy who has Mosley's belt isn't exactly a great fighter either.

But regardless, my point still stands.

Angulo will be fighting Alcine very soon I forgot what date but trust me not enough time for him to fight Berto, definitely not.

Just checked in Boxrec, July 17th Angulo vs Alcine.

Admit it guys, Berto has no good dance partners to pick out. He's at a party where everyone is dancing and he will have to pick out that fat girl sitting alone..The fat girl seems to be Saveck. It happens to everyone at some point in their career. When the song is over he will have a chance to dance with a better looking chick, no ****.

Berto's return is around November, which is four months from July 17th. Not saying he needs to fight Angulo, nor do I believe he should, but that's a poor argument.

when you are trying to Unify titles I think you get somewhat of a pass, Jan Zaveck is a title hold even though he is not that big name we all want to see Berto go up against

as for "Machine Gun" Jones...I like Jones he KINDA reminds me of a young Vernon Forrest for some reason maybe it is his size I don't know but I don't think he is ready for Berto or any of the other top fighters at 147 JUST YET, yes he is 27 now so he is not a kid but he hasn't been truly tested yet, Henry Bruseles was a DECENT test for him but that is all

If Berto is elite, then he's the lowest level of elite. He's around the same level as Collazo. Not quite elite, but definitely not a tomato can either. Jones would have a good chance against him. Jones has been boxing just about as long as Berto has, and they have nearly the same amount of fights on their resumes. Honestly, what makes him not ready for Berto? Berto's best wins are a blown up, old Forbes, an average but not quite elite gatekeeper in Collazo and Quintana (who came down in weight) and a blown up Urango. That's not an elite WW resume at all. And its not like he's looked amazing in his only two decent challenges (Collazo and Quintana). Both exposed him a lot. He still has a lot to learn in my opinion.

It's a great argument. How do we know what's going to happen on July 17th? What if Angulo loses? He said to fight Angulo like if Angulo is currently free to negotiate fights, when he has a fight next month. Don't jump the gun, let's see what Angulo brings to the table first. Or you want Berto to fight Angulo even if he loses?

Remember what happened with Mayweather vs Judah? Baldomir was a tune up, Judah-Mayweather was already signed...Judah lost the tune up and the Mayweather fight had to continue because it was already signed.

Alright Boxerdood you're obviously not a Berto fan I picked up that much from this thread so far lol. Was it because Bradley lost to Berto in the amateurs?

I guess its the right move to unify for Berto if he is going to stay at WW.

Still this may not be as much of a pushover as you may think, Zaveck won his title the way a champion should by ko from a defending champion and Berto though a phenomenal athlete is only slightly more proven than him with the Quintana win being the bench mark for me.

I don't have any problems with Berto at all. In fact, if you look back to the day he KO'ed Quintana, No Ceilings and I were the only ones defending him while everyone s**ted on him. And why would I be mad about Bradley losing to him in the amateurs? It was a very close war that could have went either way, and the amateurs are nothing like the pros (for example, David Diaz of all people beat Zab Judah in the amateurs).

I do understand that he doesn't have many choices, and I'm usually all for people who want to get bigger opportunies, but I just don't think these paper titles will get him anywhere. I don't think he's quite an elite WW yet, but he's gotten the privilege of being hyped up to be an elite WW, so he should act like one. He should fight the best fighter he can get his hands on, and that would be Mike Jones at this time. It would have been Mosley, but he made a poor decision by asking for a 50/50 split he knows he doesn't deserve. I'm willing to let that slide as long as he makes up for it. Bradley would also be a good fight for him sometime in 2011.
