Why was a Dawson win changed to a NC because of Marijuana?

So because they test for it necessarily means it can enhance performance?
What kind of reasoning is that? They test because its technically an illegal substance but I can pretty safely say will not give you an edge in a fight.Comment

obviously every single governing sporting body cares. they give a **** hence they test for marijuana.
if both fighters are anxious because there's a big fight, a lot of stakes on the line, championship, money, fame, etc.. both fighters are extremely nervous & uptight, fighter A tokes up 3-4 hours before the fight, fighter B doesnt do anything.
fighter A gets high, lowers his anxiety, relaxes, is in a better mood, while fighter B stays tight, stressed out, feels the pressure...
who has the advantage?
it affects performance. some positively some negatively. that's why they test for it.Comment

If both fighters are anxious before a fight? really now we test because of theoretical nervousness?o

What if a fighter is prescribed an anti-anxiety med? is he a cheater?
How can you say how much pot effects a specific person's mood levels?
If a fighter has something tragic happen and loses should it later be declared a NC because he was unfocused? What about if he was tight because he had too much coffee? should we ban and test for coffee?Comment

Anyone who thinks marijuana could even possibly be performance enhancing, has obviously never used it. It's b.s. Pure and simple. There's no reason why a fighter like Ricky Hatton can drink 15 pints a day during training and get away with it, yet Chad Dawson smokes a few joints and he gets screwed. It is absolutely preposterous. If weed is a banned substance, alcohol and tobacco should be as well. It's as simple as that. And on top of all that, he probably didn't even smoke weeks prior to the fight. Marijuana can be found in your system even after 30 days.
All that being said though, Dawson knew he would be tested, and knew this could happen to him, so I don't feel sorry for him. He made a mistake, but he's learned from it, and kudos to him for that.Comment

becdause its an illegal substance. opiates are legal by prescription, far more legal than medical marijuana is. if you dont have a script for some oc's and you piss hot, expect to face the consequences.I noticed when boxrec rangering + some addition research that Dawson has a NC in a fight he won because he tested positive for pot and I could see him being fined but its not a performance enhancer in anyway at all.
So why would the win be discredited for that?
Who cares if fighters are toking up, if anything it hurts their chances of winning and its not like it puts their opponent at a disadvantage so there to me seems to be nothing in that win that is tainted.Comment
