if he really wants to fight him, he'll fight him. I don't know why Klitschko fans want people to accept Vitali as the true champion, but then defend him when he won't fight the others who might claim to hold that title.

And before the usual suspects show up and call me a hater, if Vitali would fight some of these guys and beat them, I'd give him his due. If he looked good doing so, I might even root for the guy. I just resent how people act like it should be assumed that he's the best heavyweight, even though Byrd and Ruiz have beaten better fighters.

50-50, 60-40 - it's about pride rather than brains. Klitschko will make more at 50% of the Toney purse than 60% or possibly more vs. Maskaev or McBride

I agree with you. The split percentages is a matter of bargaining ... the economic side of the story (not really a pride).

I do believe they will fight this year.

But why Goose calls Vitaliy a coward?

probably to get under his skin and make him want to punish his fighter?

If you call Vitali a coward, it implies your fighter is not. It's good PR.

          1) About the numbers you asked me earlier.. it was posted on the same source... klitschkotrashtalk.com, sorry I mean **********.com

          2) Why Papa Goose calls Vitali a coward.... Well the reason is $$$
This will be a major PPV attraction if those two fight.. as a promoter, he jumps to the last resort: name calling, insults, yada, yada, yada... to try to get his fighter a title shot and rip off some ca$h.

As much as I want to see this fight.. I also want to see King say.. Goose, WTF are you talking about Byrd?? Toney has no title --> no fight!

50/50 split is silly, toney is not a big draw, has no belt and was just caught for steroids... vk could make the fight to shut people up, but economicly its not right... not to mention is rahman is crying like a *****, threatening to sue if VK fights anyone else in Sept.... VK is going to be criticized and bad mouthed by somebody either way...

I agree completely. Vitali is the biggest draw in the Heavyweight division right now. He is the only guy in the division that the general sports writing community even knows.

Are you kidding? Holyfield could fight in England tomorrow on PPV and it would be bigger than a Vitali fight...

Tyson drew three times Vitali's draw against Danny Williams vs. Kevin McBride with a **** undercard. Fox Sports has James Toney on every BDSSP boxing telecast; Vitali can barely speak coherent English - how can the "general sports writing community" not know who Toney is?

Vitali may be the best - emphasis on the word may - but isn't the biggest heavyweight draw at all...

                    hmm

There is no heavyweight fight that deserves to be ppv, at all. However, Vitali is the champ and is no less of a draw than Toney, no matter what Toney says. Toney hasn't proven he is a bigger draw, that's just his opinion. Many would disagree because everyone knows light-skinned heavyweights with some amount of skill are VERY popular as they are rare.

If this fight doesn't happen, Toney is more at fault than Klitschko. Klitschko is the champ, period. 65-35 is plenty fair enough especially given that Toney just tested positive for steroids. Did yall forget that?

I can't believe this is being discussed in another thread.

Gooesn and Toney DID counter saying they'd take 40-60, and Shelly Finkle's only comment was that they were too far along in the negotiations with Oleg Maskiev.

HBO has since squashed that fight, and instead of looking at the Toney fight, Shelly and Vitali are now targeting Calvin Brock.

Toney is the biggest money fight available for Vitali, and it doesn't make any sense that he wouldn't take the 60-40 split and make this fight happen.

It would be his biggest payday, and the best win on his resume should he beat Toney.

Goosen has been trying to make this fight for some time, and is obviusly frustrated.
