Froch's shortcomings were on display against Dirrell, but his will and ruggedness were great enough to prevent Dirrell taking advantage of them to any telling degree.

I scored Kessler-Froch 4 times and couldn't score it for Kessler once. Two draws, two close wins for Froch.

I don't think Froch would beat Ward, though. He'd be taken to school, something Dirrell couldn't do to him.



And FWIW, Dirrell didn't beat Abraham conclusively.

He's shown the least of the 5 after 2 rounds (I say 5 for obvious reasons, Greeen doesn't belong). His handspeed and combinations are something, but his footwork is all over considering how much his athleticism is talked up. He moves quickly, but not smartly, and he doesn't put it together well by elite standards or by standards befitting of the label 'slick'. Mentally, he's very questionable.

Way too much is being expected of this guy. He isn't that good.

I think if Calzaghe saw what The Cobra Froch would do to Ward, he'd go hide in some Las Vegas casino nightclub until 10am, take an armed escort to his hotel room upstairs and never come out until he was sure The Cobra was home in Nottingham... just like he's been doing for years!

Say what you like about his skills (or his lack of skills), but Carl Froch is rarely in anything other than an entertaining fight. Against Pascal and Kessler he went to war, against Taylor he staged an awesome comeback and he at least tried to make something happen against Dirrell - his only boring fight in recent memory. Froch would not have let Ward out-muscle him like Green did and Froch would have at least thrown some proper leather to give Ward something to worry about. He should probably no better than to talk so much trash, but he is entertaining.

Ward would win a wide points decision against Froch, but you know Froch wouldn't make it easy.

Haha Froch is funny. Say what you want Carl but that so called "boring style" got him a Championship belt from the guy who just beat you for your belt. He might be boring to some but it's paying off. The same people who say it's boring have probably never boxed in their lives. SMH
