Manny Pacquiao is Overrated

In all fairness we wont know the critism Manny will take until he takes those fights. Most Pac fans on here have already ****ted on a Margarito fight and I agree that the Cotto rematch is pointless (unless Cotto shows great improvement until Manny Steward and also beats an elite fighter at 154).

I think what it boils down to is recent memories of Floyd not facing Cotto, Margarito and other top WW, instead opting to retire. There was a demand in the boxing community for him to fight those and he didn't. Now people are harder on him because they want him to take hard challenges to make up for it. The Mosley fight went a long way as far as making up for that, and if he beats Manny no one could ever label him a ducker again (in the sense that he avoids challenges). I would address why Manny gets away with it, but I'll leave it alone, unless you really want to know why.

FWIW all the boxing insiders have also stated that Pac vs Margarito is a disgrace to boxing as well as a Cotto rematch is pointless.

Exactly I don't remember anybody dissing Floyd for fighting Shane... Unless Dom is talking about Pac fans. But, then on the flipside damn near every Floyd fan have had a problem with Pac choice of opponents too.

That's not what I'm seeing here on NSB. I've heard this many times "Pacquiao should go fight Cotto or Margarito, forget that *****". Where as most Boxing fans want to see Mayweather face Paul Williams, Sergio Martinez incase the Pacquiao fight doesn't go down. Even Steward said this (After Larry had asked him who else besides Pacquiao can Mayweather face) Steward said "Well the only other guy was Mosley and he did that tonight, unless he wants to move up and face Paul Williams or Sergio Martinez". All I'm saying is, I'm not hearing anything about Pacquiao facing a Paul Williams or Sergio Martinez. So why is Mayweather held to a much higher standard?

What about the fact that Floyd Mayweather Sr has stated there is no way Manny Pacquaio can be as good as he is without peds.This has been echoed by Roger Jeff and to a lesser extent Floyd now what does that tell you what they think about Pacquiaos talent they think that there is no way this guy is this good without drugs

I think he is referring to boxing fans in general. They are hard on Floyd and while I don't agree with a lot of it, I understand why.

People wanted to see Floyd fight Margarito, Cotto, and other top WW's but he didn't. To top it off he then comes back against an overmatched LW at a catchweight that he doesn't even honor. After all of that the boxing communty was feed up and weren't putting up with anything less than a Pacquiao, Mosley, Williams or Martinez fight.

FWIW these aren't my thoughts, just what I have gather from those who are critical of Floyd....the guys I assume Dom is referring to when he mentions they are limiting Floyd options (as far as fights they wont criticize).

Okay as far as that my honest opinion is that most people perceive Manny as a very small WW. Also he has just gotten to WW (Nov 09) and just two years ago he was fighting at SFW. So I feel most don't expect him to fight a 6-2 in fighter and the Ring MW champ of the world. Floyd however has shown that he can be competive at 154 and has been at WW for a long time already. It's not far fetch to believe he can carry his ability (due to his frame) up to 154 and 160, while Manny on the other hand may or may not have the frame to compete any higher than 150.

People criticise Floyd for fighting Marquez at Welterweight, but it was Okay for Pacquiao to face Oscar Larios a career super bantamweight at 130 lbs. (2 Weight divisions above...)

larios actually had a few fights at 130 before.

hell he had 126-130 fights when pacquiao was still at 112.
