You have to walk the gauntlet to win that competition.
Bute is a beast.
But Ward looks to be something special.Comment

Given that the fighter currently rated #1 isn't even in the Super 6, that makes no sense. Bute should have really been in it, but he wasn't invited, for whatever reason, and so the winner of the Super 6 has to fight Bute before anyone can be called the best 168 pounder in the world.Comment

Headbutting Kessler into submission in a horribly biased reffed fight doesn't make you the best at 168.
Not even close.
Lets see where Billy Goat Gruff is by the end of the tournament before we get ahead of ourselves.Comment

Whoever wins the tourney is the most proven and the man at 168.Comment

Only because Bute was excluded from it. You can't have it both ways, you either have to include him, or you have to agree that the Super 6 winner has to face him before anyone can call themselves the best at the weight. He's ranked #1 by The Ring, and you don't lose a ranking like that simply because Showtime decides to exclude you from a tournament. That would be ridiculous. Rankings should be based on quality, not on who Showtime happens to think are their best money makers.Last edited by Dave Rado; 06-19-2010, 01:00 PM.Comment

If Bute was avoiding the best fights in his division, then his ranking should suffer. But if he's being excluded by a broadcaster from facing the best fighters, then only that broadcaster's credibility should suffer, not his ranking.Last edited by Dave Rado; 06-19-2010, 05:20 PM.Comment
