There's a lot more reading besides.
You have to try and draw from both a variety of written accounts/contemporaneous testimony and what taped evidence you can find, to get a sense of what these guys (and the guys they made their names by fighting) were about.
I agree, it isn't easy. But you can start to get a strong sense of a fighter and his place in history, the magnitude of his accomplishments, if you immerse enough.
I don't pretend to have a thoughtfully compiled ATG list, just a personal favorites list. I was just wondering what you thought about Armstrong, since he wasn't among the names that other guy cited (Burley etc, the ones you placed below Ali). Thanks.
