If he beat Mike Tyson would a loss really count against Pac? Its what you do. Pacs loss is irrelavant. Pac is fighter of the decade because of achievements. For beating Hatton in 2 rounds is a better achievement than a 10 round KO. Beating DLH in 7 rounds is better than split decision. Outclassing and then stopping Cotto is rated higher than any of PBFs achievements.
Thanks i think you get it.
Losing does mean something it means that Pac can easily be outboxed. It shows that hes not the best fighter. Losing to a past prime Morales does count against you.

Id rate the SSM, Corrales, Castillo and DLH wins for PBF as better achivements than Pacs win over Cotto. The Cotto Pac fought had been destroyed by margarito and many thought he had lost to clottey in his previous fight. Then he moved down in weight which exposed his weak chin.

PBF's wins over the versions of DLH and Hatton are clearly better than the versions that Pac beat.

Number 1 can only be achieved if PBF retired or loses. My question........why is Floyd not number 1 when he came back?

Barrera is prime (P4P#3) when he got defeated. Nobody not named Pac or MAB can beat Morales in superfeather even tho he is not in his prime anymore. How is Floyd's resume better than Pac?? Even the *****s know Pac's resume is superb. Check boxrec.

There was already a talk about Pac-Floyd even before Pac fought Oscar. In fact the weightclass they are talking about is 135. One up from Pac and 1 down from Floyd. Barrera made Pacquiao a superstar, Oscar made Pac a megastar............but then SO DID FLOYD.
Floyd was off for 2 yrs that's why he wasn't # 1, but 2 fights in and he done already claimed his spot back. just think in less than a yr, it will be an consensus once again that Floyd is the best fighters of this era.

yeah, pac got a good win the 1st fight, but the 2nd after MAB lost to JMM, not so much. all of the Morales fights he faced a faded Morales and yet he still managed to lose 1!!!

right here on this site...there is poll that said pacquiao would get massacred by Floyd and that is not one fight he should do. Post oscar and hatton, now pacman is supposedly superior. The hype was created with those 2 wins over vulnerable fighters! Or floyd leftovers!

another thing, how many times has pacman fought a named fighter after a loss. he did it with morales 3 times, mab once, clottey once, and larios.

Imagine if Floyd fought this many fighters, this many fights against an opponent after they lost in their last fight!!!!

manny is not the fighter of the decade!

Send an email to Jack or Tom, they're both good guys. Let them know that you're upset and ask for a recount.

              You think that would help?

They've given it to him now and I think it would be classless to take it back. It's done...i just got to vent!

Then again, i might email them so the next decade maybe they will take into account all of the factors to make the right decision.

I think hatton was finished when floyd beat him. There is no doubt about that.

No, it wouldn't help at all because the voting was not done by two people, it was done by everyone on this list.

                  http://www.bwaa.org/members.htm

The boxing writers who conduct the voting have spoken, and overwhelmingly so.

In other words Hatton, Cotto, Margarito deserve this award more than Floyd...OK

Just a though. Many people prob haven't thought of it this way....and pls correct me if i am wrong in my assumptions.

The media (essentially the same writers who overwhelmingly voted for Pac) had Floyd ranked ahead of Pac (look at any P4P list) for 8 of the 10 years this award covers. So for 8 yrs of the decade FMJ was universally recognised as better than Manny Pacquaio.

This tells us something. It tells us Pac won this award on the back of victories against ODLH, Hatton and Cotto. Now put that into context. Floyd beat better versions of both ODLH and Hatton years earlier. So that leaves a win over Cotto @ 145 after he was crushed by Margarito (who prob had loaded gloves) and arguably lost to Clottey.

I bet all these writers who voted didn't go back and see that they all had Floyd> Pac for 8 years of the 10.

PS. Manny is a deserving winner........but i feel the reasoning for his win isn't as well thought out as it could be.....maybe Asian Sensation can clear up what criteria was used??
