I always felt Margarito is just a bad opponent for cotto. A big, strong, iron chinned pressure fighter will always be bad news for cotto.
except he didnt look big and strong against mosley and certainly didnt against garcia unless u rate that flash kd in the first round

margarito really didnt like getting hit on the chin against garcia and eventually started running (havent seen him take step backwards for 10 years)

what fight were you watching, margarito was boxing garcia and taunting him to an annoying extent, rounds 8 and 9 he ran like cory spinks he was winning comfortably though. on a sidenote nobody gave garcia a chance in hell

cotto had an easy nights work because hes a powerful technician, and ure right comparing foreman and garcia isnt fair, foreman is a pedigree amateur and a former undefeated world champ, garcia is nobody, has no defense and is really slow

margarito is done and panda hopes cotto will land a rematch to prove that
Panda's are on the verge of extinction. Who cares what they think?

He was working with a new trainer and wanted to employ what they've been working on in camp by boxing and moving more.

Nothing wrong with that, especially after such a long layoff. It was the best possible approach to get your legs and rhythm back.

          Cotto would destroy Margarito now
Just look at the difference in skill

it was a long lay off , he loks the same , he might have gotten tired faster because of the time he was inactive. But he looks the same to me. His aggressiveness didnt look like it was there. he got the style to beat Cotto and Cotto has the tools to beat him. If Cotto was a bit more disciplined he would have stopped Margarito , He has been abusing the bottle too much. With steward in his corner for the first one , Cotto wopuld have kept attacking instead of boxing , there was no need to try and ooutbox a potato sack when he was landing at will. He needed to keep hitting the potato sack

Unless Cotto has changed dramatically, it will be the same result. Margarito has the perfect style to beat Cotto.

Magarito is done; he took too many headshots in the Cotto fight and was annihilated by Mosley. He looked weak, shot and feather-fisted in the Garcia fight and Garcia wasnt even affected by him at all..

I agree, but do you think Margarito will use his usual style? He took alot of punishment in that fight and took twice the punishment in the Mosley fight. I wonder if he'll make adjustments so that he doesn't get hit as often as he used to or if he's willing to sacrifice what could be a cracked chin. It's going to be interesting.

You're dreaming. Marg looked terrible most of the fight. Anyone who says otherwise is not being objective at all.

Tough opponent? Are you kidding? What happened to Marg the destroyer, able to retire anyone by wearing them down? Give me a break. He had a gimme fight, he couldn't retire the guy. The end.

That aura of invicibility is shattered. People know 1) He can be knocked out 2) It's highly likely that a lot of his *pressure* fighting of the past was so effective because of cheating, he knew he could give 1 punch and take 3 (much like Cesar Chavez did) because his punches were going to be effective [via cheating]

Without wraps. I'm convinced his power is medium at best. He is a volume worker, without real KO power.
