Vazquez throughout his career has earned millions. MILLIONS that should of last him a life time. Whether he is smart or dumb with his money is another issue but he has earned enough money to last him a life time.

It doesn't matter if you fight for money or legacy. At the end of the day if you're dumb with your money you going to be broke period. And, if you fight for money and end up broke cuz your dumbass didn't know how to handle money and don't have the name that will live on forever then you fought for nothing.

If you fought for legacy and at the end of the day you're dumb with your money and end up broke. At least you will have a name that will last forever even after you die. A name that your family from generations to come will be proud to have.

If you're smart with your money. You should fight for legacy. I know I would. Because legacy comes with money and you would make enough money that would last you a life time and after that life time your name will live on forever.
I agree with your post but Hoya fought for both.He fought for Legacy and Money. He and Mosley was the last of a dying breed.Bradley started out like them but it's clear now he is trying to show he is smart out of the ring(which can back fire)and go after money.I believe you should get paid as a fighter but I also believe you should fight for Legacy because they go hand in hand.

What happened to wanting to unify a division, or to prove you are the best by fighting the best? That is why Oscar De La Hoya ruined boxing. Greedy bastards that don't give a **** about boxing fans.
I kinda see your point but you can't say Oscar didn't fight the best. He fought Quartey,Trinidad,Mosley twice all in there prime. Fought a still very tough Vargas, moved up to Middleweight and fought B-Hop very well til the 11th, Pernell still in his prime just to name a few. Also prime Floyd and Manny regardless of the fact that he was at the end of his career and bigger, there still two of the best fighter in the world right now

I can see you saying this about Floyd because he doesn't have the same resume as far as this many risky fights and fighters in there prime.

Khan and bradley still have a chance to all fight each other along with Alexander,Ortiz,Maidana so it's still a little early to claim this about them

Bernard Hopkins (You can argue if he was past his physical prime but was a hell of a fighter)

Who else did you want him to fight?
This is what I'm saying no resume is better then that in this era.

We can't be there to hold their hand after their careers are over, but with the right brain they won't need that - if they've been clever with their money which was generously donated to them by us.
Mm? Lets not forget you're getting something for your money so no, its not 'generously' donated. These guys are in a very dangerous sport so for them there's no stable paycheck.. We should be privileged that we get to see our favorite boxers and if you have a problem with them wanting to make a lot of money then don't pay for tickets or PPV, its that simple. $50-60 bucks once or twice a year(depending which fighter) is not a lot.

De La Hoya earned 10s of millions in one fight. Saying he has enough to last a life time isn't a certainty either, people have families, children have to go through school, hospital bills.

Then there's the issue of wanting to leave money behind for loved ones and enjoying the money you took a beating to get.
