As floyd has moved up he has fought tough vets and then the guy in the division that generates the most money. This was not floyds strategy it was and is how Top Rank builds their fighters. Gatti floyd was all about increasing exsposure. That is why goodman the matchmaker just got elected to the boxing HOF. If you feel he is a cherrypicker then you should feel that way about all top rank fighters. Bob is using the same strategy with pac and khan and its proven successful.

Cotto and Margarito fights didn't happen because Bob told floyd he couldn't get floyd $10 mil. So he fbought out his contract for $750k and fought Baldomir for more money than he would've received against cotto.

Since he bought out his contract floyd has participated in 3 of the top 4 highest grossing non heavyweight fights. The Mosely fight should've happened years ago I agree. Just make sure you remember floyd issued the challenge and Mosley balked.
The return fight against JMM was about beating the guy who (most observes agree beat) drew against Manny to create a buzz for their fight.

We all have our opinions. You see floyd as a cherrypicker. I see him as a guy who took over his own career and made extremely smart business decisions. By fighting Gatti, Judah, ODH, and JMM floyd has been smart enough to face fighters with large ethnic followings that generate huge ppv#s. Other fighters haven't been smart enough or good enough to do this.

IMO....and it's not a popular one on here, Floyd has cherrypicked all his fights after JLC.

at 135 lbs he fought Sosa and Ndou. decent fighters but nothing that would make him an all time 135 lber.

at 140 lbs he fought Corley, Brusseles, and Gatti. Considering 140 lbs was stacked, this was a pretty weak run. Again, nothing floyd has done in this division screams 140 lbs ATG.

at 147 lbs he fought Mitchell, Judah, and Baldomir. Mitchell (who floyd could've beaten at 140 lbs) was a tune up. Judah was a grudge match. Baldomir was for the lineal title. All decent scraps, but the dangerous fights were against margarito and cotto. Again, none of these boxers make floyd an ATG WW.

Then floyd got his dlh payday at 154 lbs. DLH was past his prime but still a good boxer and floyd got a SD. This is what it was all about for floyd, getting the DLH fight.

Instead of fighting the best at WW, floyd calls up hatton, who had previously been chased from 147 lbs by Luis Collazo. This was a good fight... at 140 lbs.

Then floyd retired for 2 years to duck cotto, margo, and mosley, letting them bash their brains in.

Finally returning to boxing, he fought a blown up lightweight JMM and failed to make 144 lbs (the contracted weight).

Next he fought an old 38 year old Mosley. I'm glad Mosley got the payday, but like floyd already said himself: "we know mosley gets tired." (probably because he's 38 years old).

In the past I have excused this cherrypicking because I thought once he got the DLH payday, he'd start fighting who the fans wanted him to fight. Nobody wanted the JMM fight. the hatton fight was best at 140 lbs. the mosley fight should've happened a decade ago.

Now I'm not saying floyd isn't a great fighter or an ATG fighter. I can't deny the skills, but does his resume prove this? I don't know. based on this resume, I can't honestly put him on the level of duran, srl, haggler or hearns.
                Great Post PULL! Green K!

And for the butthurt fans. I am also a fan and in awe of floyds boxing skills. These posts actually compliment floyd IMO, and show that he has been too good facing LOWER TIER competition. As Floyd FANS you should demand he face the best..

Nothing new. These are true warriors in the ring. My old man just hates comparing SRL to FM, a true cherry picker.
