HBO could of saved less money and get two more competitive fights. And, that would mean more money for their budget for later fights.
If you guys remember because of HBO overpaying for fights last year. They didn't have enough money in their budget to make Shane-Clottey or Shane-Berto in December. So they had to move it to the new year. That is why Shane-Berto was scheduled for January. Now if HBO wouldn't have been ****** with their money we would have gotten a very interesting fights last year in Shane-Clottey or Berto. We missed out as fans cuz HBO dumbass moves to cater to GBP and Haymon fighters.
Also Because, of how HBO spend too much money last year. That they had to cut 15mil from their boxing budget this year. Guess what? That means less fights. Again who gets hurt? Us boxing fans that is who.Comment

Really Burner? Then why did HBO cut 15mil from their boxing budget this year? If it was so damn big why cut the budget? Matter of fact why not put more money in the budget? 15mil they cut from their budget. That means we are getting less fights this year, which mean boxing fans get screwed at the end. But, yet you don't see anything wrong with this picture
When Berto gets knocked out. The budget will get better..lol.Comment

Khan of course. But, I also thought Ortiz was going to have an easy night. Thing is HBO overpaid for that.

This is not dumb ****. Arguing about Floyd and Pac on who deserves what and who should agree to what is dumb ****.
When you guys start seeing less boxing on HBO, you guys gong to be wondering why. And, this is the reason why. Slowly but surely Ross Greenburg is hurting/killing boxing on HBO.
This is the kind of stuff killing the sport more than anything.
The average sports fan tunes into HBO for a good fight, not to see two young fighters beat up two out-classed fighters. For 1.5 million HBO needs to spend there money on good fights, it's that simple.Comment

It's not an agenda against HBO, it's an agenda to make boxing better. Do you realize how many really good fighters would kill at the chance to fight for that kind of money? Instead we get a hyped up young fighter who GBP has forced on us as the next big mexican fighter and an old washed up fighter in a boring fight.
For that kind of money young unproven fighters should be fighting each other. Not get handed TV time and easy wins.
HBO should not be in the business of building up HBO fighters, leave that to the promoters which besides Arum, they don't even do anymore. HBO should be in the business of putting on good fights, and that's it.
It's easy to say that now that Ortiz dominated, but going into the fight it was the perfect crossroads fight. Two "quitters" who people were questioning their heart. Campbell wasn't seen as shot going in and before the Bradley fight, both of the fighters bandwagons were out of control. They fell out, but were rebounding back. It was an interesting fight to see how they would bounce back.
What my problem is with Thomas Hauser is he always goes after HBO, but never showtime. Where was his article on how Vazquez Marquez IV was a waste of money? They spent 1.6 million on it. HBO was thinking of picking it up once, I'm sure if they had, Hauser would have written a huge article.
Where was Hauser's article on showtime's lack of boxing besides the super six? Where was Hauser's article accusing Dan Goosen of rescheduling the Ward fight and ridiculing the super six for letting it happen?
Hauser always goes after HBO. That's a fact. Sometimes his points are great (Dawson Tarver II for example), but a lot of time it's just unnecessary bull****.
edit: And don't get me wrong, HBO does overpays some of their fighters (Berto), but there was nothing wrong with that May 15 card.Comment

The fact is, normally Hauser bitches about HBO in continuous articles. Does he make valid points? Sometimes, but he largely over exaggerates things. Where is the mention that Khan-Malignaggi did good numbers? That money pulled in a crowd.

Fucking nailed it.
HBO isnt hurting for cash.
Pac-Clottey and Shane-Floyd made them a bundle.
Hauser has some kind of beef with HBO. He got into it with Oscar over some drug testing thing a while back.Comment

One thing I'm curious about is why the article includes the offical amounts that Ortiz and Campbell received but not the specific amounts that Khan and Malignaggi received. Surely those numbers would have a significant impact on the strength of his argument?
I wonder, did the New York State Athletic Commission not make those records available, or did the author choose to leave them out?Comment
