Arthur Mercante Jr. felt that Foreman was in good enough shape to continue. And i absolutely agree with him. He had not been taking a beating and Foreman was fighting for his career, his reputation, and his pride.
If the fight had been stopped with the towel, it would have been incredibly anti-climactic and i don't see how Yuri Foreman would be given many more oppurtunties.
BUT, Mercante made the decision to let him fight on and Foreman took advantage. He didnt win the fight but he won a lot of fans.
Not to mention the fact that Foreman was the Champion... not his trainer. The Champ should get to decide whether or not he wants to fight on. I give everyone involved a lot of praise.
If Foremans trainer truly believed Foreman's health was in danger he could have refused to leave the ring. But as it stands, he was one of the first ones out.
