Will Cotto rematch Margarito or vacate the title?

Antonio Margarito is the WBA #1 ranked Jr Middleweight. Tony can't fight in the U.S., but I'm sure he'd be OK with fighting Miguel in Puerto Rico.

He wont vacate because Margarito isnt a mandatory fighter. He just wont fight Margarito.

Meanwhile Arum doesnt want Martinez near Cotto,I guess he knows Martinez whoops Cotto's ass

How is Margarito not a mandatory if he's ranked number one by the WBA? His ranking implies that he's the mandatory challenger for the title. If he doesn't agree to defend against the number one ranked challenger, he must either vacate or he'll be stripped of the title.

The #1 isn't always the mandatory challenger, not to mention Cotto gets a voluntary defense in which I'm sure he'll want a big fight.

Margarito CAN'T BE the mandatory if he can't fight here. I'M SURE there's a rule somewhere that says if you can't get a license to fight in the U.S. you can't be the mandatory. You can't expect the champion to go fight somewhere else because some cheater can't fight here.

Antonio Margarito can fight in the US. Texas already approved his license.

Post a link to this information because I have never seen this. He was DENIED a license in Texas which is why he fought in mexico.

Or maybe he just won't fight him because he's scared of the Tijuana Tornado? Is that what you were really trying to say?

The last thing that happened is Texas stalled long enough for Margarito to have to go fight out of the country. Texas HAS NOT approved him for a license and they won't.

“We decided that rather than go to a hearing, which [Texas' Athletic Commission] looked like they were going to require, that we would, when we had more time, go back another day,” said Arum. “We want to put Carson Jones back in. We want to propose that he fight in Aguascalientes against Margarito.”

Yeah he's totally scared, that's exactly what I meant. It's not that Margarito can't fight in the U.S. because he's on INDEFINITE SUSPENSION. FYI, when a fighter ignores the requests of one boxing commission and goes and fights outside of the country, that's like a big F You to the commission, and they generally don't like that, and you never get licensed again.
