Martinez confirmed as plan b for mayweather

MARTINEZ CONFIRMED AS "PLAN B" FOR MAYWEATHER

"I'd say it's definitely accurate," remarked Sampson Lewkowicz, adviser of Sergio Martinez, when asked if the middleweight king was "Plan B" for Floyd Mayweather should negotiations fall through with Manny Pacquiao. Martinez, who currently holds titles in both the middleweight and jr. middleweight division, was recently stripped of his WBO middleweight title for failure to relinquish his WBC jr. middleweight title. According to Lewkowicz, Martinez has yet to make a decision on whether or not he plans on giving up the title because he's waiting on the decisions of others, namely Floyd Mayweather and HBO.

    Quote me on this

Martinez will blow Floyd out of the water in a 9-3 or 10-2 type decision. No way in hell does Floyd beat Sergio and this isn't me overrating him either.

and if that happened it wouldn't be a disgrace IMO......Floyd is a small 47 pounder...........granted Sergio is also a small 60 pounder and even an average to sall 54 pounder........but i would say it's a true toss up........a very compelling fight indeed..........the more i think about it the more i want to see it.........even more than a Pac fight.............

i gotta say if the Pac fight falls through and he fights Sergio, Floyd has some big brass balls............Pacfans would still accuse him of ducking though..........

Great fucking match-up, and a huuuuuuugely risky fight for Mayweather. As risky as Pacquiao, if not more so.

I'd be more than happy to see it, if 'THE FIGHT' doesn't get made.

I'll be extremely disappointed if the Floyd & Pac doesn't happen, but this plan B doesn't sound bad at all. I think it's a better matchup than Pac's original plan B against Margarito.

I actually think it'll be a very competetive fight, and not a one sided blow out as you think it will be. Why do you think it'll be such a wide margin?

naah bro. Martinez is by far a bigger risk than Manny. Martinez UD's Floyd 10-2 and stops Manny (due to Manny's aggressive style) in 10 or 11 rounds. The size combined with his speed, power and footwork is just too much for these guys.

you would have say more risky.......Pac and Sergio both have the same attributes, but Sergio is bigger and Floyd would have to fight him at 54 limit or above.....

handspeed, footspeed, power-----> on a pound for pound level Pac and Sergio are commensurate in these areas....

                    both southpaws and both skilled...........

IMO Sergio would be much tougher for Floyd......he would face all the same attributes Pac has, but would be giving up reach advantage.........
