I'm Asian. 5'4" in height. Normal height for us but midget is terms of US or European standards. I went to Austria 2 years ago and was able to fit in a 100 year old standard issue armor for fighters in Graz, Austria. That means people were much smaller then. That means that what is 200lbs HW fighters now may be 150lb fighters then. The norm increases as time goes by.
If you want to call Ali as a LHW now, fine. That is your prerogative.
In basketball? Are you from the US?Comment

Actually the WOMEN's division nowadays is heavier than Ali's heavyweight division now.
Thus if you want to call tiny Ali a heavyweight then call him champ in the woman's heavyweight division.Comment

Ali _DID_ fight partly in what we call now heavyweight division. And partly what we call now cruiserweight division. The cruiserweight division was called heavyweight division then. What is there not to understand?

The reason is that the ALi era was in a diffferent time frame.Comment

Ali's record stays exactly how it is.
I do not want to erase Robinson (170+ lbs) off Ali's record.
But you need to compare Ali vs Robinson NOT to modern heavyweight fights but to modern cruiserweight fights of course. That Ali vs Robinson has been called "heavyweight" is completely irrelevant (except for historians).Last edited by knn; 06-03-2010, 03:51 AM.Comment
