pasa you are ****** if you dont realize that floyd had the better decade.....but i totally agree that a fighter that retired for the last several years of the decade(for the most part) while another fighter was whooping ass cannot win the award.

This is really getting silly!
Did you even see the fight.. Margarito was winning that fight before it was stopped due to a headbutt. The decision should have been given to Marg. He lost in a SD against a puerto rican fighter in Puerto Rico. And Cintron was a very good fighter at that time, far cry from what he is right now. I mean between Margarito and Baldomir in 2006, who would you bet your money on. Most boxing writers would prefer Margarito... Not even close. Baldomir is nothing more than a journeyman who was place in a position to be a lineal champ because Judah happened to **** up his tune up. The guy was a nobody before he fought Judah..

Who "won" that year in your eyes?

        I go like this:

        2000- Floyd
        2001- Floyd
        2002- Floyd

        2003- Pac
        2004- Floyd
        2005- Floyd
        2006- Floyd
        2007- Floyd

        2008- Pac
        2009-Pac

2000: Floyd beat Emmanuel Augutsus. Pac beat some dude named Kon-Chae and in the Hussein fight was almost KO'd by a jab.

2001: Pac had 4 scraps was very active. However his best win was against Ledwaba. Floyd beat P4Pounder Diego Corralles and Jesus Chavez.

2002: Floyd beat Castillo twice. Pac beat Jorge Eliecer Julio and Fahprakorb Rakkiatgym.

2003: You have to give to Pac for the MAB win.

In 2004: Floyd beat Chop Chop. Pac had a draw with JMM and beat 3K.

2005: I gave 05 to Floyd because Manny lost a fight, to a past it Morales nontheless.

2006: Floyd beat Judah and Baldomir 2 out of 3 of the Top WW's and won the 147 Lineal Title. In that same year Pac beat a shot Morales twice and beat Oscar Larios.

2007: Floyd beat Oscar and Hatton. Pac beat a shot MAB and Solis.

        2008: Floyd was retired.

2009: Floyd beat JMM in a tune up. Pac had Cotto. He gett that year.

        Year by year its interesting.
i agree with this though i would possibly give another extra year to pac at 2004 i believe it was. but other than that yes. the only reason pac was even in consideration for FOTD is because floyd was retired for mostly 2 years

          Great post!

Rub it at these people who thought The Ring's rankings has similarity to how The BWAA conduct their poll for FOTD.
          thanks man!

maybe baldomir was a nobody before judah, but floyd fought him after judah fought him. He had accomplished more than margarito. Cintron is what he always has been. A no hear t boxer who rely soley on power. Santos whooped on margarito....at that time, margarito had not beaten a champion ever! Baldomir was the fight floyd should have taken....ther is no doubt. And the facts state that floyd beat 2 lineal champs in consecutive fights at ww.

To all the pac fans. We all should agree with the ts that floyd should be the fighter of the decade, for doing this we help them ease the hurt that they feel inside.

I say, yes floyd should be the fighter of the decade, pac is not worthy to get that award.
actually, they based it on fights that took your heart away, fights that has dramic endings, fights that lets you jump off your seat, fights that were won where you can shed a tear, fights that could inspire the world, fights that shocked the world.
pacquiao's wins are way far impressive than may's. it has more feelings than may.
when may wins: yah he's great, he won, i've already expected that. and to tell u the truth i'm quite disappointed, coz he did a lot of talking before that, and it sounds like he's going to murder his opponent.

when pac wins: OMG, that was amazing, i never thought he would did it that way, pac again showed the world that he always improves everytime he fights.

pac doesn't talk trash or try to overhype the fight, that's why people are often surprised on how well he did in the ring, and surprised that they get more than what they have paid for..

LOL!! This guy still doesn't get it. A non-prime Morales x2 + Larios is WAY better than any other fighters did that year. Even Floyd. He fought bums.

He fought Zab Judah and he also fought the Number 1 WW in the world.

                  How can you knock that?

I'm pretty sure the folks who voted Manny the FOTD are more than credible than the majority of this site. I'll take their word for it.
