15 rounds should never have been changed...separates the men from the boys.
Does anyone Prefer 15 rounds to 12 rounds

It was changed because Bam Bam Mancini killed someone, and it certainly was not the first time someone died as result of a boxing match. Later the referee and the deceaseds(Doo Koo Kim) mother both comitted suicide.
It's not safe and better that fights go 12. -
Have fighters not have died in the 12 round era?
I don't think changing it from 15 to 12 has saved any lives.Comment

Heard all the stories why they changed it, but it doesn't hold. There have been deadly accidents at 10 and 12 rounders also, it's mostly incompetent referees and handlers who don't protect fighters enough by beatdowns.Comment

I'd prefer an odd number of rounds to eliminate most draws.
Of course there's some guys that you're glad they're only going 12. And there's too many superstitious people to make it 13. Plus 15 would be tough to fit into an hour with commercials.Comment

Honestly I'm torn on this because yeah the fights would be longer, and you would have and odd number, resulting in less draws. At the same time though, a lot of those older fights were full of guys fighting at a slow pace, dragging fights out (atleast that is how I saw it).
I think longer fights would result in more rounds being taken off, more hugging and tying up, and less exchanges. I'm trying hard not to picture it being that way, but with this generation of boxers, that's exactly how I see it playing out..lol
Less rounds = more action and a faster pace.

But, it is not like it was back then. When the majority of boxing fights were on network TV. Now it is more in cable, HBO, Shotime, and PPV. There are really no commercials in those channels.Comment

Oh I'm sure it has. Three extra rounds are a hell of a lot. In a brutal fight, one extra round could be fatal. The twelve we have now is dangerous enough as it is. It should never be changed back to fifteen.
Boxing is a great sport, but getting punched on the head over and over again isn't great for your health. The less of that the better.Comment
