just go back to the diego corrales (R.I.P.) fight. he was throwing tons of punches from all kinds of angles. Eventually he stopped diego.

now look at the dlh fight. floyd barely threw any punches at all and the fight went to a split decision. if floyd just let his hands go more, he would've won by a wider margin.

Its sad to see such a great boxer reduce his workrate and become a boring boxer. Floyd was at his best at 130 lbs. He was a spectacular boxer then. At 130 lbs, without reducing his punch output, he could've stopped JMM.

Floyd needs to get his punch stats up. that's a glaring whole in his game.

volume can overcome counter-punching....but P Williams would get beat by Floyd.........Margo and Pac have a better shot at Floyd than Paul Williams

Thats because he doesnt open up to get countered and stunned. The name of the game is win at all cost and im sure his style has prolonged his career and he only has a short time left at his current status, but when he retires if hes smart he will be able to live a fruitful life. Long as he doesnt stick around to long. Maybe the other fighters whom once they step up to the top caliber and get bruised and battered should watch more of Floyd or Pernell and there defense. We fans want the blood and guts but we never think of the pain and torment that the fighters go through when its all said and done.

good post....would green k, but my situation precludes it.......

it's all about self preservation.......other fighters get hit because their defense is ****.........!!!!!!

          strange indeed.

Any version of Cotto at 140 and 147 would lose to FMJ......Shane would have lost to him back in 2006.......

not sure about Margo..........still not sure.......

i doubt this was the reason he retired.....as reasons go it's not a very good one.....he would beat cotto (and he thrashed Shane this yr). The more compelling reasons to retire:

          1. Get his price up. "the sport will miss me when i'm gone" - FMJ. Guess what???.....he was right.....it did.......that's why he made $30 and $40 mil in the last 2 fights, without a guy called Delahoya.

          2. Let the body heal. If you watch the Hatton 24/7 in the one segment he shows a rare sign of weakness when he talks about his body breaking down......."......all this ****.....it's nerve wracking" He isn't joking when he said he took time off to let his body heal......and it looks to have done so.......you can't continually punish the human body the way he did for 15 years and not expect wear and tear.......

retiring was the smartest thing he did.........!!!!!!!!!!!

What's amazing is how he is able to throw so few punches and yet dominate a fight.

This is a good post, probably not a thought that ever occurs to a Pacquiao fanatic however. The key in boxing is to hit and not be hit, of that particular strategy Mayweather has become a master. He's never been a blood and guts fighter and thankfully he probably never will be. It's exciting as hell watching two guy pound each other relentlessly, but after the thrill has faded the wounds that are left behind are life changing.

Pacquiao takes a lot of hurt in his fights; I wonder what that's doing to him? I wonder what sort of man he will eventually become?

Actually, *****s are really jealous of Pacquiao's accomplishments. Deep inside they consider Floyd's skills as mediocre compared to Pacquiao.

Jealousy is ruining their small brains.
