Is Mayweather the quickest AND most "accurate" boxer in history?

Is Mayweather the quickest AND most "accurate" boxer in history?

Who do you guys think is not only the quickest but most consistently accurate boxer in history?

When I think of guys like Sugar Ray Leonard, Ali, and Meldrick Taylor I recall a lot of quick flurries, but missed flurries...

I remember them as throwing more quick "round stealing" like flurries with not much behind them...maybe 2 out of 6 of their punches land...

when I think of Mayweather, I see his "combination" speed being a tad slower, but 5 out of 6 of his punches land accurate and hard...

Now Floyd isn't necessarily a speedster like those guys. He relies on his speed to land quick unexpected punches from all angles...Ali and Leonard rely on overwhelming you with flurries that are hard to defend because they keep coming...kind of like workmen like flurry punches...

Pernell Whitaker is someone that is pretty close in my opinion...and maybe a low weight prime Mosley...

what are your opinions? I will admit, I am not too brushed up or well versed on my Meldrick Taylor history

let snot get too carried away, gatti has neve rbeen hard to hit, SRL was fighting the likes of hagler and Duran all toime greats.

floyd has deifntely got the ability to be iup there but he needs to do it in morew than a few fights to be considered the most accurater in histroy.

you may also wish to look at the likes of Willie Pep or jimmy wilde before making such comparisons.

I may be jumping the gun a bit...I guess I am more so trying to compare the way they throw...like others, they seem more like untimed punches that are not thrown based on accuracy...they land on the elbows, hips, arms, shoulders, chests, and chin...kind of like 1-2-3-4-5-6 quick...Floyd's to me are more timed that land on the body and chin more like 1 and 2 and a 3 and 4-5, and 6...

maybe I am jumping the gun though...the opposition does play a part...but I don't doubt too much that Floyd could land like that on Duran or Hagler

oh I have not jumped the bandwagon all of a sudden...I have seen his fights with Castillo...I am not even saying Floyd would beat Duran unless he just wows us with more performances like that vs the likes of Kostya, Hatton, Cotto, and maybe some at 147...

I am just comparing the way they throw combinations...that's all

i never meant you in particular, but in general people are jumping on the band wagon all of a sudden......

he fought a scintillating fight, but, even though i expected it that way, i was more disappointed with gatti as he appeared to just stand there when mayweather was battering him with those combinations......

mayweather might find it hard to get fights now after that performance, because many people saw gatti as a legend, thus making mayweather's performance appear superhuman....

a mix of effective pressure and boxing...Castillo is much better than Gatti period and better defense...and not a wild swinger...

You're right, but you also have to consider that Mayweather might have improved quite a bit since then. I mean, it's hard to tell because Gatti isn't nearly the same level of opposition, but you can't assume that a fighter's skills stay constant over time. Especially with a guy like Mayweather, who back then probably didn't train nearly as hard for those fights as he did for this one. He talked a lot of **** about Gatti but in truth he knew that this was an important fight for his career, and he probably prepared for this one than for most of his previous bouts.

I still think that people are maybe exaggerating a bit, but the guy put on a hell of a show so you have to expect people to pretty excited about it.
