He just needs to keep fighting regularly and eventually he's going to get a title shot. The opposition should be better, but at least he's fighting often. It's the sort of thing David Tua should have been doing, rather than the stop and start approach we've seen the past few years. We've all heard of the phrase out of sight, out of mind. If you're not doing anything, you're not going to be in the spotlight. These fights are farces, but it keeps things ticking over.

He is just getting in shape.since his minor suspension he fought 3 known "opponents" just to get his name out there.he did balloon up to 330 before he trained to fight again...needed some extra supplements but got caught...oh well it's not like the klits havnt experimented...

According to the IBO statistics, Briggs has only ONE other win over a "top 50" opponent:

At the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, ******ia, former heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs (51-5, 45 KOs) knocked Rob Calloway (70-12-2, 57 KOs) down three times in the first round before the fight was stopped by the referee. The ******ia Pilot reports the fight being stopped at the 98-second mark. It was the second fight for Briggs in less than a week. He is staying busy at least, well sort of. It only took him twenty seconds to stop Dominique Alexander last Saturday in New York.

the best part about the Briggs,grant;Rahman,tua comebacks is these guys all were legit contenders so they will start bumping out guys like boytsov,dimitrenko,povetkin,sexton,chisora,valuev, chagaev,etc...these guys will have to step up & fight or they will be pushed to the back of the line.liskhovich,tua,Rahman,grant,Briggs combined have 4 world titles & several title shots so they immediately become title contenders...I'm glad because I want these clowns like kingpin to have to earn a shot.

well i really do hope guys like david tua and shannon briggs do get their title shots but only after they earn the right and dont get a free ride cuz of their impressive ko's over not so tough competition!!

Wow. That really is shocking.

He's 2-4-1 against top 50 opposition.

Good to see him stay busy, but the only thing fights like this prove is that he's the heavyweight king of washed up cruiserweights.

I hope he doesn't feel he's entitled to a title shot.

that was one awful fight, that he did amazingly win. Briggs might be big and muscular, but man his stamina and punch output are terrible.

...this is some surprising news though, beating guys within a week. He knows how to work the system at least.

Briggs really couldn't beat Foreman either....was given a gift for some unknown reason....but hey..maybe he can beat a champion from before that era. Ali maybe....or Frazier..but they might be a bit too alive...maybe he can dig up Max Schmeling..he just died a few years ago.
