    Mayweather's still a huge punk

So he beat Gatti. So what? He was expected to do it. He has been going on and on about how he would beat a "C+ fighter", and now he did it. Except it took him six rounds of landing flush shots at will to finally take down that "C+ fighter".

What won't change after this fight is Mayweather's attitude. He's the same ****y SOB who'll be saying the same things about Hatton if they fight. Or Cotto. Or whomever.

And in all likelihood, he'll beat those guys. Probably with ease. But will he ever build a fanabse like Gatti's? Will he ever transcend boxing and become a household celebrity like Sugar Ray Leonard and Muhammad Ali? While I wouldn't bet against Mayweather in a boxing match, everything I have says he doesn't.

Mayweather claims he would be content to continue be the bad guy in boxing. For his sake I hope so, because that's all I see in his future.

I'd say Mayweather has just about as much chance of becoming a household name as Gatti had of winning that fight. Boxing is just not popular the way it used to be, and you'd have to do something really incredible to make yourself known to the average person. Strangely enough, Gatti is probably the closest anyone has come to doing that, but he's still not a house hold name.

Lets be honest you just don't like Mayweather and even if moved to heavyweight and knocked out Vitali you wouldn't impressed(obviously a joke). LOL Its all good though, no disrespect everyone has an opinion.

Mayweather could give a **** about becoming a household name...... He's a punk to be sure, however this punk has great talent. I do beleive Hatton would change all that. Mayweather never fought a real scary Chucky like doll that Hatton appears to be in real life

No boxing superstar in our time will ever become a sensation, DLH was that last guy and nobody on the horizon looks to be either.

Screw becoming a household name, let Mayweather collect his huge paydays and let Mayweather keep fighting the best and winning. Who gives a **** about becoming a household name, Boxing isnt even a household sport.

Mayweather is the best boxer this era has now and you should appreciate his skills and the career he has had so far. If Mayweather chose to retire right now he would still have the best resume out of majority of the boxers today. Mayweather has just entered his prime, he has potential to be the greatest.

You gotta remember, Mayweather loves to be hated. Half of his antics are done on purpose, and half are real. I could care less, as long as he backs up his talking. I'd a prefer a talking punk virtuoso than a humble unskilled bum.

I don't know why people keep focusing on the "C+ fighter" comment. I mean, they call it trash talking for a reason, right? Does anyone think that Frazier is an untalented "gorilla" cause of what Ali said about him before their fights? Now I'm now trying to suggest that Gatti is any Frazier, but of course you talk about how terrible your opponent is going into the fight. That's just part of the show.

And even if Gatti is, say, a C+ to C fighter, Mayweather destroyed him with an A++++ performance. Who besides a much larger De La Hoya knocked him out of the ring so easily before? Nobody. And everyone was talking about how weak Mayweather was at 140. Yet he was able to punish Gatti more than probably anyone else ever has.

I just don't know how anyone could look at that fight and go "so what?".

I shot Mayweatherfan a message earlier about the choice of gloves and how Mayweather fought. Mayweather chose winning gloves that on HBO were called pillows and he cracked them against Gatti and made them sound thunderous. I would like to hear Gatti comment on Mayweathers power personally. Mayweather is underrated in the power department, ask Corrales.
