"Award-winning 21 year-old-writer," huh? What award did he win, "Smug ****head of the Year?"

Shannon Briggs? The guy who got beat up by and who lost his title to Sultan Ibragimov?

    That Shannon Briggs?

James Toney? The guy who got whupped by Fres Oquendo and saved by the judges?

    That James Toney?

I think our Euro-phobic award-winning writer needs to go back to the drawing board and try again.

And leave the Polish humor out next time, as well.

Maybe our award-winning writer fan of Briggs and Toney would rather Vitali just sat around all year and did nothing, like David Haye does.

Funny how some people just will not give credit where its due.

If the klits didn't exist today everybody would be raving how Peter would KO Lewis. Chambers would beat holyfield. How good Peter vs Tyson would be etc
The has been going on for a very long time. After each fight, I'm more and more convinced that it is a race issue. A lot of people just won't give them credit.

It definitely is for some people. I've read some people say straight out they don't like the Klitschkos because they are white. There is an idea of the black superman that has been promoted by the ******* American media since the 1960s. Ali is their hero and ideal, and any fighter who threatens this ideal is villainized. It's obvious that the Klitschkos have been kicking the asses of black fighters (and white fighters, and fighters of any other color) for some time now and this has created a lot of resentment, not just among black boxing fans and writers, but also among old white guys like Burt Sugar who are responsible for the myth-making around figures like Ali.

I don't think it's about them being white, it's about them not being american. American's are used to dominating the HW division, but that is no longer the case, and they don't like it. Lennox was also heavily criticized when he was active, coincidentally he was not american either.

The fight should be entertaining for as long as it lasts

It has nothing to do with them being white or non-american

True, Lewis was widely disliked in the US until he quit fighting. Too British.
Though he was more Canadian than anything else and learned to box in Canada.

I don't think it's ALL about race with the Klitschkos, though it seems at least subconsciously so for some people. I think as many white media types resent the Klitschkos for being white as black people do. They have made this idea of the superman black athlete their ideal, from Ali to Michael Jordan, and don't like having this ideal upset. Don't expect them to admit it, though.

I think racial resentment and xenophobia both account for a lot of the seemingly irrational dislike of the Klitschkos, though I detect that resentment lessening as time goes on. They will both be more highly regarded when they are gone and people see that there is no one left capable of dominating the heavyweight division.

What a cinderalla story it would be if Sosnowski landed that one lucky punch that knocked Klitschko out? It's the Cotto-Jennings, Pavlik-Lockett of the HW division. I will be watching for sure.
LOL, but Pavlik-Lockett and Cotto-Jennings ended just like people thought it would...
