Chagaev vs meehan....no wonder Rahman, grant, kirk Johnson, tua,Briggs all came back if that's all you need to get a title shot.
He won't knock out Chagaev in the first, I can guarantee you that, he might take him out in the later rounds though. Chagaev is a good counter puncher, and Haye will have to be extremely carefull when he throws those huge punches not to get countered with a left.

Chagaev is definitely a fighter on the downslide.

I think he gives Haye trouble, but he'd probably has to fight him in England and be subjected to numerous behind the head blows so it's a tough fight to handicap.

Haye has already sent plenty of messages to the Klits, mainly "I'm afraid of you and don't want to fight you, I rather keep my trinket fighting the WBA circle-jerk in England"

I agree but thats bad news for Haye. After the first 2 rounds he only throws one punch at a time.

chagaev has wins vs ruiz & valuev.he made a title defence vs matt Skelton? Wow! He beat meehan.haye beats the same guys & it's nothing but chagaev beats him he's a real contender? Chagaev is overrated! It's not hard to see...tua,arreola,adamek,chambers,peter & almost any other top 25 guy beats chagaev

Chagaev beat Valuev more decisively than Haye did (a younger Valuev too), so what are you talking about?

Floyd Patterson had a better era than this (also there really isn't a floyd patterson era as Ali was in this era too) but if we count active fighters in Pattersons title reign (1956-1963) there was Liston, Johansson, Chuvalo, Moore, Ali, Cooper.

Thats arguably 4 top 20 HW's (and two top 10) with some good contenders.

Jack Johnson's era was fine, in that period Johnson had fought Jeffries, Langford, Ketchel, Fitzsimmons, Burns, Willard, O'Brien, Flynn, Gardiner. In an era with only one world champion Fitzsimmons, Willard, Jeffries, Burns were all fighters than held the world heavyweight title at one point. Fitzsimmons, Jackson and Jeffries are three of the greatest fighters of the pre-modern era. Flynn is the only fighter to knock out Jack Dempsey, Langford is widely regarded to have been the best fighters EVER to never win a title. Ketchel is considered one of the greatest middleweights of all time (in an era where Middleweights could beat Heavyweights), O'Brein and Gardiner were light heavyweight champions (against it was not uncommon for them to win against heavyweights) and I'm sure you know who Willard is (famous for stopping Jackson and then taking a brutal beating at the hands of Dempsey)

Who do we have today that is of that calibre? the Klitschko's, Haye, Valuev, Adamek and Chagaev if were being realistic. I mean we have fringe contenders like Peter, Chambers but I haven't brought up contenders from those eras like Peter Felix or Bill Lang.

Also there were guys like Harry Wills and Sam McVey, Choynski. Wills and McVey rarely got big fights because they were discriminated against as they were black fighters. Choynski was a tough fighter who engaged in a trilogy with Corbett and drew with Jeffries.
