Edwin Valero's Savage Ring ESSENCE lives on: JAMES KIRKLAND

Before he went to jail, James Kirkland was on his way to becoming the best 154 pounder in the sport.

He is the Edwin Valero, the mandingo version of the 154 lb division.

A beastly offensive southpaw trained by a offensive beast (no offense) in ann wolfe, kirkland if he has his head straight, at least for a couple of matches, can re light the torch that was snuffed/strangled (allegedly) by edwin valero.

Both have the power, the aggression, the devotion, the sensation....

& most important, the "IT" factor.

Lets just hope James Kirkland goes the other way of Valero & fulfills somewhat the void left by savagely exciting, talented, & promising career of edwin valero.

With Manny Pacquiao, Joe Calzaghe, Antonio Tarver, Winky Wright, Naseem Hamed, Paul Williams, Edwin Valero, Lucian Bute & hopefully james kirkland, this time period is somewhat of a gold mine of talented southpaw fighters.

AGREED! Except I don't think Kirkland's near as crazy as Valero. Was real disappointed about him getting locked up after watching those HBO videos that HBO did on him. He looks hungry and has so much potential.

I can't wait for him to get out, I hope he can stay out of trouble too because this guy can seriously become huge! Fan friendly style, great story behind him. A lot of skill and potential. I can't wait!

If he lands flush on P.Will, Williams might fall to his first KO. Would be a hell of a fight! Easily fight of the year!

I wish he has that 1 punch KO power does Valero had. But, he is ruthless either way.

Blasphemey to compare him to a Monster like Valero.

He has a bad chin and lacks one punch KO power.

          Omar Henry FTW.

Funny. Same could be said about Williams. Why do you think Kirkland has a bad chin? I've only seen him down once.

I was a Valero fan, Part of the caveman crew.

And, i saw a lot of Valero fights.

But, was Demarco as good as Julio?

Was Pitula as good as Vera?

Was Mosquera as good as Albert?

Was Garcia as good as Duran?

Then you add a win over Lyell and Conyers. I don't know if you can say is blasphemy or Valero quite clearly had the better potential. Valero had a 1 punch KO power yes and Kirkland doesn't. But, Kirland potential before going to jail was high also.

Valero is also fast becoming the Kurt Cobain of boxing.
