True.. he was born in Brooklyn.. he's NewyoRican.. and they already said John Ruiz.. but me like alot of rican boxing fans i've talked to we dont like to really claim him too much.. Cool he was the 1st Rican heavyweight champ but he did it in so badly.. I was never impressed in any of his fights.. lol

We have had Mexican-American boxers like Oscar De La Hoya, Fernando Vargas and now Victor Ortiz. But I dont think we have had great/famous Puerto Rican-American boxers despite there being a big Puerto Rican population in New York.

How come?
