Comments Thread For: Malignaggi on His Boxing Future, Considering Retirement

Last Saturday in New York's Madison Square Garden may have been the last ring appearance for former junior welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi. For eleven tough rounds, he took a lot of punishment from WBA champion Amir Khan. Referee Steve Smoger stopped the fight after Khan landed a hard combination during the eleventh. I've been feeling oddly fond of Paulie since the Khan fight. That often used analogy of him bringing a knife to a gun fight is so true; just shows you how much guts he's got. Boxing is a tough enough sport without starting from such a disadvantageous position. I won't miss him as a fighter but I admire his heart, guts and personality. Agree with all those advocating a future TV commentating role.

Paulie's the man, all class. He makes for entertaining build up, leaves everything in the ring, and is all class after.

Hope he has one more fight, he deserves better than retiring on a TKO loss.

That $400,000 payday won't last forever. He'll be back.

I sure hope Paulie is never a broadcaster and if that would happen let it be on some NY/NJ small station. I find him disgusting and more of a street pimp/rapper/hood side ways wearing hatted punk than anything. TV and cable doesn't need a heavy accented black gangsta acting wanna be any where near a mike. Let Paulie drive a subway car or a taxi in NYC where he belongs. He couldn't speak with his fists and his slang ****** dialect should prevent him from any TV or cable station.

I think he made a million for the Hatton fight and several other mid-six figure paydays. I'm sure he has enough cash in the bank. Not everyone spends like Mayweather.
