The day 20,000 Brits shut their mouths?
Yea 8th December 2007...
Then again the brit**** were so drunk they prob didn't even realise Hatton had lost.Comment

Thing is, there's a huge difference between the fickle, one-time-only Mitchell fans who left as soon as their boy lost; and the unrelenting Hatton fans who still kept beating their drums faithfully and chanting his name after losing - on both occasions.
It takes a real boxing fan to stay behind and cheer both fighters for their efforts.Comment

It's crazy. Snooker is only shown these days because it gets good tv figures, but it cost the BBC £18m to secure a five year deal for the four biggest snooker tournaments. That equates to around £3.6m per year. That yearly sum could pay for Khan vs Malignaggi, Mitchell vs Katsidis, Froch vs Kessler, Froch vs Abraham, and maybe a David Haye fight thrown in too. It's probably 'cause at darts games you're allowed to smoke and drink whilst going barmy for a bloke ("athlete"?!) throwing darts at a board for a few hours.
Snooker, though... whilst I like it, I just don't understand why a whole nation can become so fixated on such a technical, quiet event for 2 weeks.
In my mind, the BBC should have a budget of £10m a year to purchase the rights to big domestic fights, and big international match-ups too. The viewing numbers would reflect boxings popularity if the BBC commited to a new boxing schedule.Comment

I was thinking of calling you a ***** for not pulling out the Aussie flag WHILE the fight was happening but come to think of it if you did, and having the fight finish the way it did, all the Brit anger would have been taken out on you.Comment
