Haye didn't really have a big name over here.

20k is average for a fight that's held in a stadium. Warren promoted the fight as if it was a football game.

Mitchell is a West Ham fan, took place at Upton Park. So a lot of West Ham fans just came along for a night out.

But it's still snooker > darts > boxing.

That Robinson-Dott final was awful, though. I miss the Hendry/Williams/O'Sullivan days.

It pisses me off to see Snooker and Darts get more coverage then boxing.

Not for long. IMO, this is the start of the golden era for British boxing. Mitchell, Khan, Haye, Degale, Froch(older but still a draw), Gavin, Saunders, Groves, and Brook.

It's probably 'cause at darts games you're allowed to smoke and drink whilst going barmy for a bloke ("athlete"?!) throwing darts at a board for a few hours.

Snooker, though... whilst I like it, I just don't understand why a whole nation can become so fixated on such a technical, quiet event for 2 weeks.

Not all of them will draw.

Saunders might not make world level. Mitchell isn't going anywhere fast and after his last performance, I doubt he's going to draw big again for a while.

Groves doesn't really draw big, nor does Haye, Degale, Brook or Gavin.

The only guy who's really drawing at the moment is Jaffa.

                It's like F1, such a boring ' sport '.

People driving around in cars, overtaking is rare.

                That's bigger than boxing too.

                WTF is wrong with Britain?

Snooker and darts are just more prime time friendly than boxing. I'd say boxing actually garners more interest and is a bigger talking point than those two sports.

Yeah but look what happened to our last "golden era" in 2007 or 2008 or whatever - our top fighters fell like dominoes

Not all of them will draw because a lot of them are prospects but a few of them will make it and be draws, which is more than you guys usually have. I wouldn't consider Mitchell great and that's why I was impressed that he drew 20,000 people(regardless if he likes the soccer team or whatever). Haye is going to be big if he grows some balls and as for the other prospects like I said, a few will hit. IMO, Brook and Groves are going to be the ones that stick and take over. Either way this is the best crop of young talent Britain has had in a while.

Well it mainly depends on which area you're from if you're going to draw large crowds.

Jaffa is from Sunderland and already has a lot of fans come out to see him when he fights.
