Although his style is not exactly pleasing to the casuals but I think guys like Pascal and Cloud will make him look fantastic. He'll embarrass them both.

I agree with Dawson's detractors when it comes to his inactivity. His previous fight was the rematch with Glen Johnson last year, November of 2009. Even though he thoroughly dominated Johnson, it wasn't the type of performance that leaves the audience clamoring to see more. It was much like Clottey/Pac and Mosley/Mayweather in the sense that the story was there, but the climax never happened.

His next scheduled fight is against a certifiably exciting fightin Jean Pascal, but it isn't happening until August of this year. His inactivity would be nearing almost a year. I wish I could explain the reasoning behind this, but there really hasn't been giving an explanation by Shaw or Dawson. One could say that since Pascal is considered a threat, it would be foolish to risk a loss jeopardizing the fight. But the issue is, Dawson is in no position to risk being forgotten by whatever public he's been exposed to. His performances have been hot and cold. He hasn't created a fan base that is impatiently waiting to see him fight again making him relevant. He's pretty much falling in the same groove that Tavoris Cloud has.

I'm wondering if HBO is just not willing to give up an extra date for Dawson. Even a tune up fight would be good for his marketability which is crucial at this point. ****, if I was Dawson, even a Friday Night Fights appearance would be good enough for me. The sport is ready for fighters to step up and start filling the void that is building from the lack of new names
I looked at you picture, you owe me a hit :/

Chad is a good guy, I do agree that he needs to step it up. The super six tournament would be a great start once the tournament is over.

well actually the guy has a big family and loves spending time with his family; i'm a fan of his since he schooled Adamek; he is inactive but he's skilled you can't take that from him.

Would have been nice if he took a tune-up in between the Pascal fight...

I'm a Dawson fan myself but i can't really blame him for being inactive.

Pascal suffered that injury so the fight was pushed to August.

Dawson i suppose could of fought a tune up between then, but maybe he just wasn't up for any meaningless fights.

With the state of the sport, any exposure will help. at least thats my opinion. I think Shaw is too preoccupied with the Super Six, though.

Thats true, especially in Dawson's case. He just hasn't been able to build a solid fan base.

To be fair, who should he be fighting?

Cloud won't get in the ring with him.

Diaconu has dropped two in a row.

George has been inactive and lost to Henry.

Johnson has already done the dance twice.

Tarver has already done the dance twice.

Calzaghe is retired and didn't want him when he was around.

Hopkins wants NOTHING to do with him.

I doubt he lures Bute up to 175 for such a dangerous fight.

The only person I can see him fighting in Chris Henry, but... why?!? He got outboxed by Adrian Diaconu man... Plus, George was kicking his ass before he ruined his hand (hence why Henry took over). I see that fight being anti-competitive.
