As A Chad Dawson Fan, I Agree With His "Haters"

I really hate using "haters". The word is mad corny now especially since the Floyd girls overuse it. Its as if they have a button for it on their keyboards or something. Anyway..

I agree with Dawson's detractors when it comes to his inactivity. His previous fight was the rematch with Glen Johnson last year, November of 2009. Even though he thoroughly dominated Johnson, it wasn't the type of performance that leaves the audience clamoring to see more. It was much like Clottey/Pac and Mosley/Mayweather in the sense that the story was there, but the climax never happened.

His next scheduled fight is against a certifiably exciting fightin Jean Pascal, but it isn't happening until August of this year. His inactivity would be nearing almost a year. I wish I could explain the reasoning behind this, but there really hasn't been giving an explanation by Shaw or Dawson. One could say that since Pascal is considered a threat, it would be foolish to risk a loss jeopardizing the fight. But the issue is, Dawson is in no position to risk being forgotten by whatever public he's been exposed to. His performances have been hot and cold. He hasn't created a fan base that is impatiently waiting to see him fight again making him relevant. He's pretty much falling in the same groove that Tavoris Cloud has.

I'm wondering if HBO is just not willing to give up an extra date for Dawson. Even a tune up fight would be good for his marketability which is crucial at this point. ****, if I was Dawson, even a Friday Night Fights appearance would be good enough for me. The sport is ready for fighters to step up and start filling the void that is building from the lack of new names

Are you serious? The reason he's inactive for that long was because Pascal was his MANDITORY and he was injured and had surgury or whatever.

        Agreed, its beyond gay.

Also agree on Chad. He needs to fight more often and get his name out there. Its not like he can take time off and keep himself in the headlines like Mayweather or Pacquaio. Dude has no personality. He needs to get by on showcasing his skills on a regular basis and even that might still not be enough to get big fights.

I like Chad. Dude needs to be in the ring though. He shouldnt had waited on Pascals injury. The fight was post poned twice which means that Jean is pretty damn hurt. So I dont understand fighting him. He wont get credit anyway.

I mean, the Pascal fight was always the fight and Pascal got hurt. Kind of hard to blame Dawson for that, especially in such a weak division with few suitable replacements on short notice.

The thing is, he's actually on the right path but the fact that he's walking it at a snail's pace deducts almost all of the praise and acclaim he should be recieving. He's beating just about everyone who needs to be beaten (that he can realistically get in the ring anyway), but by the time he gets in the ring with his next opponent all the buzz has completely died down and it's like he has to start from scratch again.

Its a lose-lose situation. He couldn't get Cloud, and Pascal is the only top 5 guy left. He'll get more credit in the business for that fight anyways (maybe not from the fans though, since they prefer Cloud). Yes he should be more active, but if he pulled out of the Pascal fight I bet everyone would pull the duck card again.

I guarantee that after this fight, we'll see more from him. Possibly Cloud if he gets past Johnson (which I believe he will).

I agree with this. Hes wasting his prime years. Dude is 27 years old. Its time to get to work. Doesnt help that hes in a terrible division either.
