Good points but, the truth is racism is still here. It's just in more suttle ways and behind closed doors. Everything else you said is pretty on point. If you looked at Floyd before he became "Money" and before he became and ******* before fights he got "0" recognition from the casual fans. He had no hype who the hell wants to see a pure boxer other than true boxing fans? Why do you think MMA is doing so well? People want to see blood and guts not skill.

Truthfully speaking it is very racist for a man that's the far bigger draw to be expected to bow to a man that's much less of a draw than him. This isn't usually allowed and it's not right. Since when is the lesser draw in the position to call the shots? Your right, Manny is a draw but Floyd is the far bigger draw and that's a fact and that does not equal a 50/50 split. Manny without Floyd equals a rematch with Cotto or a Cheato fight.

shane was the champ, but didnt get a rematch clause.... floyd did.
floyd also disregarded the belt.... so he basically avoids mandatories and other champions wanting to unify.... granted, sanctioning bodies are rubbish, but you gotta respect a champion that takes all comers and defends his belt.

Here's the thing if you were #1 p4p and you decided you didn't feel like fighting for a while so someone else came along, destroyed the people you had tough fights with, blew away another top contender in the same weight class and is declared the new #1 p4p fighter in the world if you have a problem with that because you feel you are still top dog then be a man and fight him. A champion doesn't start rumors with no basis to try to discredit someone else's career and use that as a way out of a fight...THE FIGHT, no he goes out to show the world why he was #1 in the first place. You can't take anything away from him for what he did to Mosley but that was marketing. He knew that was the only other fight that the boxing public would let him take to keep any credibility after he found a way out of the Pacquiao fight and it was the easier of the two(of course that plan almost backfired in the 2nd before Mosley decided that not throwing punches was the best way to win the fight). Either way I agree with everyone I only want to see the best fight the best and it's so rare that the number 1 and 2 p4p are in the same weight range that if it doesn't happen it's bull**** there is no excuse.

to be honest, if i was #1 p4p... i would say f** off and make my money elsewhere. i would fight another opponent, take USADA and prove everyone wrong... then refuse USADA with floyd. LOL. like a previous poster said, negotiations always include ring size, purse split, gloves, etc..... USADA is something completely different... i DONT oppose the idea. but i understand if a fighter were to decline.... ESPECIALLY since there is no proof. on top of that, team mayweather RUINED manny's reputation by making those allegations.... and YES, manny is making it worse by refusing.... but NOBODY was speaking of PEDs before floyd sr. opened his mouth & planted the seed.... so all of these people jumping on the bandwagon is a classic case of a manipulator herding all the sheep.

hey you know what, floyd has a big abnoxious mouth, he is disrespectful and harms the sport with his mouth and immaturity. he was on jim rome two days before the shane fight and when jim was asking legitimate questions he responds with his punk ass mouth saying that "opinions are like *******s, everyone has one"-------------430, prime time and that is how floyd represents and advertises the sport. jim has had floyd on two times before and trying to give the sport some air time and attention and that is how floyd does his interview, like a punk big mouth

he should be carrying the sport with pride, he is the most well known american boxer but instead of carrying the torch and being an ambassador of the sport he drowns it to the casual fan

Its not about how much you bleed or try to take the other guys head off recklessly either. Merchant has resorted more and more to emotional bs in his analysis as he grows older and im sick of it. Give me Al Bernstein any day of the week 100x over this guy thats a guy that loves and appreciates all the nuances of boxing. Does anybody remember when Mosely knocked out Mayorga in the last second Larry Merchant: "I love you Shane Mosely" despite the fact that Mosely looked like absolute **** and almost lost to freakin Ricardo Mayorga, it was a ****ty performance but Larry got his knockout. He just hates great boxers, he wants fighters all the time.
