in the past 20 years i would say him and james toney, oscar should be neck and neck.oscar deserves a win over cheato trinidad and mosley on his resume.toney deserves wins over ruiz an sam peter on his resume.a win over prime tito would trump anything floyd has done.based purely off of skill floyd is 1 of the best to ever lace em up,but based off of skill and resume i would put oscar and james toney ahead of him

I didn't think this thread was about Pac but I see his name still comes up. so is he supposed to be the best in the last 30 yrs then? If so how would he fair against guys Like SRL, Herns, Duran and Hagler????

how the **** you want Pac to fight Hagler man?

p4p I got Pac behind Duran and SRL, equal or slightly ahead of Hearns and in front of Hagler.

Dirrels footwork reminds me of Bambi on ice.

No way he's more skilled than Pac.

Better than Floyd in the last 30 years off the top of my head:

                    Pacquiao
                    RJJ
                    Hearns
                    Hagler
                    SRL
                    Duran
                    Whitaker
                    JCC
                    Arguello
Floyd is the definition of the sweet science THESE days imo.

You can't measure a fighter based on untapped potential or what you believe might be their skill level. Ten years from now, when Floyd Mayweather Jr. isn't fighting people much of where he stands in ATG and HoF lists will be based not just on perceived skill but on his actual in-ring accomplishments.

I think Floyd Mayweather's assertions of his abilities isn't fully correlated with his resume. You can blame that on whatever factors you want, but its not as if he cleaned out 140 or 147 - and he fought at 154 but nobody expects him to do much at that weight.

It looks like he might go down as a very good boxer - very skilled - but I doubt he'll be considered the best since the 70's.

He might not even retire undefeated.
