Which is not surprising considering Pac was still a Super FeatherWeight 2 years ago. Nonetheless, over 6M career pay-per-views sold while having fought most of those PPV fights at 130 and 135, shows how big a star Pacquiao today, as the number 1 p4p fighter in the world who is campaigning in the WW division, is.
Only idiots are getting fooled by 1.4 Mil PPV as Great Numbers

If you try and use PPV sales numbers as a true testament to a fighter's skill, is if fan base ever suggested - in itself- abilities, then I suppose Floyd's numbers aren't as good as they should be. From a purely objective perspective, a few years back when there was a general slump in PPV sales, this would've been hailed- along with the Pacquiao numbers- as a great thing.
I think Floyd Mayweather will beat Manny Pacquiao, who I also enjoy watching. I think they both put up great numbers and I don't see the point of endlessly debating the particulars. I think the fight sold well, even if Schaefer and others threw out ridiculous numbers.
The only fight that Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao can make that will blow all their other numbers away would be fighting each other.Comment

Pac vs Cotto outsold Floyd vs Marquez and Hatton. Pac vs Oscar was considered a mismatch because Pac was moving up from lightweight to welterweight. Noone knew who Clottey was and that fight sold more than many expected despite almost no promotion. Pac vs Hatton sold almost as much as Floyd vs Hatton even though the hype around Hatton had died down by then. Forget about the economy in 2008 i think that has a minor impact at best.
You guys just blindly look at the numbers but if you dig a little deeper you'll see that they aren't saying what you want them to sayLast edited by PH|L; 05-11-2010, 03:34 PM.Comment
